Dolby Vision

I was looking forward to this Minix because of the "dolby vision" support. There were several questions about it but Minix won't answer or giving any useful info. It's always the same with these boxes. Great specs but it never works the way that you're hoping for. In the past i ordered often a "chinese" tv box but i will never buy one anymore until the things got confirmed that i want to work. That's HD audio and dolby vision. Hopefully Minix will come out of their hibernation and will give the exact specs about the dolby vision support.

Yeah, it's unfortunate to say the least.

well that's not entirely true. the u9-h performed phenomally well for me for many years, with full 4k hdr + frs + hd-audio support in stock Android - pretty damn impressive. I'd say it has to be one of, if not the, best 'Chinese' box on the market. So I'm sure after many kinks are sorted (as there were with the u9 too) it will be amazing as well. But I agree that they absolutely should not be showing fancy dolby vision Ad promos on their product page if all it actually does is applies just a pseudo dv to the gui lol.
Hopefully Minix will come out of their hibernation and will give the exact specs about the dolby vision support.
Yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

Hello
I'm interested (like a lot) by new Minix U22 and I (we) would like to buy it
But first, just a simply question : can play DV profile 07 files (mp4 or TS) or not ?
By using, Plex, Kodi or whatever you want, we need to know if it's possible and what profiles are compatible.
Thanks a lot

have you even read this short thread

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information, and it's pretty ridiculous that there isn't any official response. Can someone post screenshots or something confirming DV either does or does not work?

@Samhain
Do you have played your DV files with Plex or Kodi please ?
They play without issues ?
Thanks a lot

I managed to play a DV file from VLC, however the colours are completely messed up. There is a green tint over the video and all the colours seem to go from green to some kind of dark pink / purple. Same file on my TV's player renders perfectly. Not sure if that's a VLC issue tho

VLC is pretty terrible for DV content, would you mind trying it with mx player or plex at all?

I did try your 2 files, they play fine but I'm a bit confused about it.
On VLC / MX Player, the render is pretty good. However if I disable Dobly Vision on the box, the render is still good.
On my TV's native player, your 2 files will not be recognised as Dolby Vision, my own testing file will.

The media info of my file (same file used in #34 and #36) is as below:
