You're welcome
.
(However, supplying those previously mentioned additional details really would help others to help you here, (& avoid many of these annoying questions
). Obviously nobody knows what hardware you're using with your U22, which Kodi add-ons, or even any other information that may be pertinent. (Although, it goes without saying not to mention/discuss or ask for assistance with any Kodi add-ons that could be considered illegal on these forums.) In the meantime, here's some things you can be testing or looking into yourself, & hopefully it'll stop doing it. Or, at least cross anything off the list that you've proven isn't involved.
Firstly....... Did you, or have you since
performed a connection test as previously requested above to stream/download from another app/source? (A couple of basic but helpful tests purely as examples)....
Direct download any 2 - 4 GB file via Chrome & see if that fails, (just immediately delete it upon completion). Try streaming any "10 hour video" from the Youtube app or via Youtube in a browser as per your preference & just let that run for an hour or two. (Does your connection drop with these tests as well? (Verify if this issue is
app specific or universal before you do anything else or you could potentially have yourself/others going around & round chasing their own tails here.)
Have you raised the same question on the Kodi forums or with the add-on's devs? (In case it's a known issue introduced a couple of weeks ago with an auto update for an add-on with a simple answer or a fix coming soon.)
Are you using a
VPN/proxy? (If yes, which provider, app & connection method, etc.? Have you tried streaming via Kodi with the VPN temporarily disabled?)
Is the
source of your TV media or the software truly reliable?
Do you have the official
Kodi log viewer add-on installed? (If yes, do your logs show any obvious errors? (They'll be in bright red text & impossible to miss.) If not installed, it would certainly be a good idea before you start a lengthy quest for answers to a problem a log file may already contain
!!!!)
For the time being, have Kodi log everything. You can choose specific components to log later once you start to eliminate what definitely isn't a factor.
What happened in the time period between your original post above & the "last couple of weeks" as well? (Try to think back!!) Have you recently installed any new apps/add-ons, changed any hardware settings, or altered anything in Kodi? (If something is working exactly as desired & then suddenly starts exhibiting undesirable behaviour (discounting hardware failure or the outright obvious), invariably it's something the user intentionally changed & forgot, something was changed inadvertently, or something simply "auto updated" introducing an unforeseen bug or corrupting an existing installation.)
Before you start to put even more time & effort into troubleshooting this.... Have you gone through
all of the relevant settings for the U22 itself, any other external hardware in use, & Kodi to
check, & double check it definitely wasn't the inadvertent that could be easily rectified? If applicable/possible, try rolling back any updates too. (I'm certainly not psychic but given what you've described thus far the smart bet would be on a Kodi/Kodi add-on issue.)
Have you tried simply clearing
Kodi's cache? (You'd be amazed how often users could quickly resolve a problem with an app they've spent hours attempting to remedy that a few seconds housekeeping could have fixed from the start
.)
Additionally, try clearing the
system cache from the recovery menu too. (
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/minix-neo-u22-xj-how-to-enter-the-recovery-menu.2787/ .)
Have you additionally tried troubleshooting the problem by temporarily removing the
ethernet cable if you're currently "hard wired" & connecting your U22 to your router/switch via wi-fi instead? (Same behaviour still repeating itself or suddenly more stable with wi-fi?)
Have you also tried
rebooting any modems/routers/network switches (as applicable to you), & have you tried testing with another proven ethernet cable? (Yes, it's certainly possible that a faulty cable can function well for extended periods & then begin to exhibit issues, or even suddenly disappear again. If it's an old/worn cable it could even be subject to interference.)
I'm assuming all of your other network capable devices are functioning normally without these problems, although you haven't actually verified that either
???
RE: Kodi itself. Are you using a
build? Are you using Kodi having restored it from your own Kodi backups from another device? (Essentially, your own custom Kodi build.)
Have you tried uninstalling the
individual add-on you're using when these mystery hangs/connection drops occur? (Then clear Kodi's cache, then try freshly re-installing the add-on again.)
Troubleshoot the simpler or more basic contributing factors that you can think of first, narrow the field & quickly eliminate what it isn't. See if any particular routine can reliably recreate the issue more frequently. Hopefully you'll get to the bottom of it all & avoid more time spent backing up/restoring etc. if having to resort to the extreme. (It'll also be a big help for all concerned to include exactly what you have tried so far to save others repeating/duplicating the same tests. In the meantime, hope the above helps to narrow things down or you happen to come across a fix for it yourself
.)
Otherwise, if you still haven't got anywhere after all of the above, you may need to consider starting with a completely clean Kodi & ONLY install the add-on you're experiencing the problem with. (Or the extreme, factory resetting the device, but there's more that can be tried in the meantime & you can blow up that particular.bridge when you get to it
.)
