I am having the same problem with minix U1 and logitech c525. So it's not uniquely an x7 issue. Both cases have a hi-res (720p) external webcam.
May be a bandwith issue and skype on minix doesn't step down the resolution. Just a guess... I'd love to hear if there's a fix.
