looking for firmware for this remote hope someo e can help me out
What exactly do you mean by firmware ?.... this is a stock IR remote that comes with pretty much every MINIX Media Hub.

What MINIX device are you using it with ?

Interesting, I have two Minix Neo U1's using the basic IR remote that comes with the media hub (JBrush's image above) and in the last week these remote have stopped working with both the Neo U1's (I also have an A3 and my TV's universal remote which both continue to work fine) - I haven't updated anything - they both stopped working 4 days apart (good IR signal etc.) so suspect something happened to the associated remote's config ...

Q: can you advise where the original stock IR config file is located and whether I need to copy it back to the root and reboot (both boxes have not been rooted), or provide link where I can get a new stock IR config file to copy over? Thank you.

FYI, the A3 and Universals do pretty much everything except turn the U1's on so the original remote is preferred by my wife.... thank you for any assistance you can provide in this regard.

Are you saying the A3 power button has never turned the U1 on?

The A3 should turn the U1 on. The A3 power button is the same IR signal as the stock IR remote.
If the U1 is no longer responding to the IR remote then I guess the A3 power button will no longer work either!

Sorry, let me clarify - we have two Minix Neo U1 media hubs connected to our two televisions. Both U1's came with the 'basic' IR Remote that member JBrush posted a photo of above. Within 4 days this past week, both of these 'basic' remotes stopped operating both U1's (are working correctly with IR signal showing when viewed with a smart phone). We also have two other remotes for the U1's, an MX3 Air Mouse Remote and a
Minix A2 lite (also a universal TV IR remote). The MX3 and A2 lite still operate all the functions of the U1's except you cannot turn on the U1's with them (?)

So I am trying to troubleshoot why the two U1's no longer accept any signals from the 'basic' IR Remotes (but the MX3 and A2 do?). I can turn on the U1's manually with the on/off button on the box itself but it will not accept any commands from the 'basic' remotes - yet the MX3 and A2 operate the U1's just fine including turning the U1's off (except that neither remote can turn on the U1 not deep sleep or hibernating, but when off).

This is why JBrush's post/thread was of interest as I figure the problem might light with the stock IR remote configuration file and so wanted to ask where it can be found in the file system. Might be that some background update in the past week modified the config file and it might be able to be repaired or updated if I can find a new stock IR config file to replace - if this isn't the correct forum for this question please let me know as I do appreciate your time suggestions.

I just confirmed that both MX3 and A2 lite will turn off the Neo U1's but will not turn them on, for now have to use the on/off button on both.

Try a Factory reset of the U1.

Try a Factory reset of the U1.

Update: on one Neo U1, I unplugged everything, HDMI, cables, USB dongle etc., let the box 'rest' for 10 min., plugged everything back in, wiped down the IR port on the exterior and voila! the 'basic' remote now working again and the A2 Lite fully functional, and can turn the U1 on no problem.

Tried the above on the other Neo U1 and no joy, at this point I suspect that the problem may lie with the IR Port itself so I'll open the Neo U1 later today and check the internal IR connections - am trying to avoid a Factory reset if possible, if nothing turns up then may try the reset as at that point will have nothing to lose :) thanks for all the suggestions, t.b.a.

And it was not working because it needed some wiping, I guess...

?

That doesn't need wiping dude, it needs several litres of "Cillit Bang" & then frikkin sandblasting :).

(Looks a bit like my fridge though, just not as bad heh ;).)

I'm reading exterior as at the back!
Never thought of the IR being a port but IR Transmitter (Remote) and IR Reciever (Device)

I bet you're popular when you're confusing "exterior" with "posterior" too lol ;).

Quit sticking ya chewing gum to the IR receiver on the front of the device. (The TOSLINK port is a better option anyway :).)

You guys are a hoot, I might just send Trump here for speech writing tips! Anyways, FYI update - Neo U1 #1 working just fine. For current problem unit #2, made sure the IR receiver cover on the box was clean, no change. Opened the box and checked the IR downstream resistor on lead 1 and the capacitor on lead 3 and these checked as ok, without unsoldering the IR receiver itself from the motherboard, couldn't confirm the IR sensitivity so put it back together, did a hard factory reset and no change the 'basic' IR remote still doesn't work (nor the power button from the MX3, A2 or TV Universal remotes turn the U1 unit on - only off), conclusion IR receiver module is faulty. So just have to manually turn it on and use the A2 or TV remote. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

If you actually possess the power to send Trump anywhere then the moon would be a good start ;)!!
