FIXED: Unable to clean install Windows 10 after BSOD and Boot Loop

Hello everyone,

I tried to reinstall Windows 10 on my Z83-4 after a Windows update caused a BSOD the other day. I tried all the options to recover the system but it was not successful as it would only result to boot loops which lasts for a couple of hours. I thought that a clean install would solve this. However, I came across this prompt whenever I attempt to boot the OS from the USB:

Any input on how to resolve this? Your assistance is appreciated as this issue is driving me nuts.

You must try again.
If that does not work try :
-format the usb (NTFS) and install again

If all that still does not work try with another external usb.

If the external usb is working well and still does not work you have a problem with eMMC. (Try first put the bios with default settings and after try boot from usb )

I tested several times installed from MINIX image (other devices) and the drives (eMMC/SSD) must be recognized and formatted in order to install the OS correctly and after run the OS from the device.

The image shows an error in the script that does that above.

Thanks! The USB I am using has been formatted to NTFS. I will go ahead and try to place BIOS in its default setting. I will let you know if it works.

Please read again my post.
I edited and added more information

If you have an HDD external usb drive you can use.
I used before to install and it is much faster than a small pen drive.

Tried using 3 separate pen drives with the BIOS in default but it still does not install. It only displays the logo with no loading animation. I will try using an external HDD drive later.

What you can do is run windows PE (don´t need instalation) and test if your eMMC is good.

I cant test the eMMC just yet as the unit is running something. At least its now running, but its been like this for about an hour now. IMG_20191111_204405.jpg

I will let you know what happens next. Thanks for being patient notrui!

Ok. Let the machine do what is doing. Wait a bit longer.
When you can then try to test the internal storage

Hi notrui! I was not able to boot the pen drives after it made me wait for about three hours.

I did try your suggestion to use an external HDD drive and this is what I got:

However it stays stuck there as it had difficulty launching the loader. Any thoughts? From the prompts, I am pretty sure the system is still able to locate the eMMC but it could not load up the bootable Windows, hence I am still not able to perform system checks.

Anyway, I was able to now access the CMD, so I will try to do a disk check, repair corrupted files and rebuild the BCD files again.

I will let you know if i could fix this using command prompt.

Performed disk check and the eMMC seems ok.

However, I cannot execute fixboot as the WRP may be preventing me from doing this...

Any thoughts?

I have a similar issue on one of my many MiniX's. Hoping there is a fix and/or work around for this! I have tried multiple fixes, but still no success. I will be following this thread to see if there are any developments.

Sorry I have been away for some time as I was busy but I will try to run memcheck as well as try other ways to get my system up and running... I will update you guys later.

Finished doing the memcheck and the system did not detect any issues with it. I will try to reinstall using the bootable usb with the Z83-4 Home installer again.

I have a similar issue on one of my many MiniX's. Hoping there is a fix and/or work around for this! I have tried multiple fixes, but still no success. I will be following this thread to see if there are any developments.

Here's how I did it:

1. By using another PC or laptop, create a bootable USB by heading to the Microsoft Download Windows 10 page and click Download tool now.
2. Install Windows 10 using the bootable USB on your Z83-4. Set aside the USB as you will be needing that later.
3. Set up your Z83-4 using this version of Windows (never mind the driver versions or the lack thereof).
4. Once done, remove the previous versions of Windows to clear up space and remove corrupted files.
5. Shutdown your Z83-4.
6. On your other PC or laptop, download the Windows 10 Home OS image [1903] from the Official Firmware page.
7. Unzip and identify the folders that are similar both in this folder and the one in your USB.
8. Copy the similarly named folders from the unzipped OS image into your USB (Do not copy all of it, just the folders with the same names and its contents)
9. Insert your USB with the modified contents into the USB 3.0 port of your Z83-4.
10. Install the image from your bootable USB.

Hope this helps!
