Fresh installation

Hello,

i want to share my experience with a fresh windows installation, done yesterday evening.
I sufferd from a non-working windows update, for reasons unknown.
Therefore i decided to do a fresh installation.

1- create a booteble windows 10 home USB stick
2- Insert the USB-stick in one of the usb ports
3- Restart the box, end keep pressing F11, until the bios appears
4- use the arrows up/down on your keyboard to decide from what device you boot up. Choose the windows USB-Stick
5- An installation screen appears, and there are 2 options. Fresh installation that keeps settings ( option1) and option 2 offers a fresh installation, like the box is comming from the retailer.
6- I choosed option 2. I choosed to remove all partions, and start all over from scratch.
7- During the next minutes windows came with some questions, and eventually it rebooted for the last time to the desktop.
8- As per https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/neo-z83-4-all-drivers.76/ you have to install some drivers.
9- Download the zipfile.
10- Install 7-zip from it's current website: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html
11- Unzip the downloaded zipfile
12- type device manager in the searchbar next to the windows start logo.
13- Open device manager, and install the drivers as per here.
14- Run windows update and install updates.
15- Reboot the box.
16- Voila!!! Windows has been installed like it came from the shop. It is activated as Windows 10-PRO.
17- Install from now your favorite apps, and maybe you want to upgrade the edge browser.

Hopefully i helped out some guys, and is this process easy to understand.

As a sidenote: I rebooted from a Linux Mint USB disk, and a desktop appeared as well. I believe Linux mint could be installed as well on this box.

Good luck.

I took the leap, and i have installed linux mint.
I feel less secure with windows.

No need to install drivers etc. Everything works out of the box.

Thanks for the reactions

HOW do you do that? I'm so tired of screwy Windows 10 Updates and Microsoft Store apps that won't work, and slow, herky-jerky performance. How can I install Linux?

your provided link worked. thank you very much, everything runs smoothly, also the sd-card.
i was confused because on my package it s just written neo z-83-4. actual packages have the "pro" on it.

thanx for the fast answer!
