HELP! After updating to firmware 005, the box does not start anymore!

I did the firmware update to version 005 via the FOTA app. When the box rebooted it entered recovery mode with this message:

Android Recovery
Amlogic/galilei/galilei
9/PPR1.180610.011/20200826
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power.

Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.

=> Try again

=> Factory data reset

ERROR!

Trying with Try again, the box restarts and then gives me the same error.
So I tried with Factory data reset but the result is the same, error ...

I tried to update the firmware manually by downloading the file to PC and following the update guide via the Amlogic tool.
The update stops after a few seconds with an error (maybe because when the box worked I activated the option "Enable auto start system when plug in" and now it is impossible to disable this option because Android does not start). I have tried several times.

So I find myself with an expensive paperweight due to this firmware update ....

How can I solve?

Marty, thanks to your precious help, I was able to restart the box. Now it works correctly and I have updated the firmware to version 005. I had some difficulties due to the “Enable auto start system when plug in” option activated earlier, before the failed update attempt, but now the box works. I recommend everyone to disable "Enable auto start system when plug in" before updating the firmware because if you have to restore the system as it happened to me you will have much less problems

What ended up fixing it? I have that disabled and i have tried to factory reset with the reset button and it still hangs at the glowing MINIX screen

Have you already tried to manually flash the firmware using the Amlogic tool and a PC?

Edit: it would seem you are already in MASKROM mode:

It would seem you are right: I tried the instructions you link to, and I get exactly the same.
And now it occured to me that actually USB Burning Tool connects to my box without me needing to do anything other than press the power button (i.e. I do not need to push the recovery button or even short the points on the motherboard).

Just a quick update: I eventually returned the faulty unit to Minix (thanks Martin!) and according to UPS, they received it last week.
Hopefully a working box is on the way!
