If AM Logic aren't supporting Nougat yet (if at all) Perhaps Minix team should continue to update Marshmallow?

Well it's just a thought, I've been a proud owner of a U9H for about a year, my conclusion is that when its doing the job of streaming my English TV programs to me to keep my wife up to date with English Soaps etc. (happy wife happy Life!) it does it flawlessly. The only issue is really the user interface needs a bit of work I guess. I really don't want to mess around with trying the latest crappy android OS, I just want a robust Interface that works well, I've gone back to the basic as supplied launcher simply because it has a kill back ground apps function that seems to put everything back to a predictable state when changing for instance from BBC player to ITV player. It kinda works but could be much better. I do acknowledge that the Minix U9H is so well engineered from a hardware point of view (I am an Electronic Engineer and qualified to state that with confidence!) but lets please continue to update the OS that is actually supported by the Chip manufacturer.

I've been wondering about the same. I've been using U9-H with Android 7 only (as I've bought it recently and upgraded firmware before the first run), but I see that I am missing things in comparison to A6.

I used Nov
Have you considered installing a new launcher? Nova Launcher is a popular choice, available to download from the Google Play Store.
Amlogic aren't providing any further support for either Android Marshmallow or Nougat on S912 CPU.
Apart from cosmetics [i.e. the launcher], the functionality of Android Marshmallow OS on NEO U9-H is decent.
I used Nova Launcher for a long time, since I got rid of it I have significantly less explainable issues simply using the basic as supplied launcher, it just works I now have no issues using my VPN and the small number of apps I actually use so no point in going back.
