Impossible scrolling with air mouse

Also, nother issue is with Kodi, the moment you move the air mouse when playing a video, the player indicator also moves to the air mouse position. It's terribly frustrating, it makes Kodi basically unusable.
I've never come across that with Kodi, what air mouse are you using?
and of course there is absolutley no reason to need to use an air mouse with kodi at all on the u22

I'm using the Minix A2 Lite.

Why is that? How are you supposed to select the subs menu if you do not activate the air mouse?
It was perfectly working on older minix boxes. I don't see why this should become a case of "not a bug but a feature".

For Kodi, D-Pad is sufficient! :)

Even the Stock IR remote is useful for Kodi navigation!!! ;)

Same as me. If I'm playing a video and press the air mouse button it just brings up the progress bar etc. the video carries on playing as normal. Are you perhaps using a Build that may be causing the problem?

No, I'm using the official version downloaded on the play store. Not modded in any way. Could you try using it on the plex plug-in?

So I reach out to @MINIX - John and @MINIX – Martin, can you check with your engineers first or direct the query to Amlogic on how this can be rectified system wide if at all. Basically the Minix air-mouse range need to be identified by the OS as a mouse without a scroll wheel (touch events). I feel it justified as it does affect a lot of legitimate main stream apps available on Google Play Store, thanks.
@Marty, have you had any news from @MINIX - John and @MINIX – Martin?

Logitech keyboard/mouse bundle using a dongle worked for me, especially on sites with 64+ character passwords. Mouse is way faster than Air Mouse, but I still use the Air Mouse too cause it's soooo cool to use. :alien:

Also Firefox with the new version (79) has the problem of scrolling pages with airmouse. Unusable. I hope that this serious problem will be solved soon by Minix with the new firmware versions because the u22 box as it is is limited to audio and video playback only and nothing more. It doesn't allow me to use it at 360 degrees like I did with U1. I would like to use U22 as if it were a normal android tablet like I always have with U1.
What sense does it make for Minix to sell an airmouse for its boxes if it doesn't work as it should on its products?

Edit: Solid Explorer also works really badly I think for the same problem

Makes ya wish for a mini-trackball or even a scroll wheel right?

Well, you could attach a mouse with scroll wheel to the USB port. Have a cheap Logitech Keyboard/Mouse that I had to use to type in 64+ character passwords. Gah! And that scrolling captcha, not to mention having to use the Authenticater on the iPhone (7) within a reasonable amount of time. Almost felt like a short jazzercise sessio getting everything set up the first time, as A2 was not cutting it (extended characters).

I don't have a current version of a trackball. May have to give that a go for curiosity's sake.

I know this does not solve the issue with the A2 (or A3) not scrolling; was able to connect a Logitech TrackMan Optical (archaic USB transmitter on a cord) to the box & it works. No universal scroll on the button because that requires software.

AFAIK Android doesn't have Logitech Mouse software, not any inherent mouse support. If it did have such support then I'm sure some sort of hotkey/macro could be set up to use the D Pad to scroll when wanted.

Inherent mouse software would be a great idea, in theory. Am sure that's why the A2 & A3 came in. Scroll wheels automatically have the vertical scroll down, just no side to side. Some mice had the option to invoke a Universal Scroll, so when a certain key was pressed the cursor would freeze and the page turned with the trackball or mouse.
Many functions on this TrackMan have different results.

Was poking around trying to find mouse settings, and even screen resolution. The status bar, when its enables, I can only see the lower fourth of the top icons.

Anyhow, I did order a newer Logitech Trackball Mouse to play with and will probably use on the laptop anyhow. If the dongles are universal, can put one on the Minix bow and the other on the laptop. Then can use keyboard, mouse, and trackball. But I don't know if this new trackman mouse will play nice that way.

So, for now, try using something with a scroll wheel as that in inherently doable. :)

I appreciate your suggestion and thank you. But I find the keyboard and mouse / trackball very uncomfortable. I use my minix in the living room comfortably seated on my sofa and the use of peripherals other than the airmouse I find it uncomfortable. Besides, I don't even have a shelf on which to place them. Thanks anyway for the advice and your interest. I have always used Minix products (X7, U1) in this way and have always felt very comfortable but I must say that this U22 is disappointing me. I am not losing hope as I am aware that it has only received a few updates and may only get better in the future

I assume you have reverted to Firefox 68.11.0 which works fine for me and is the current version in the Play Store?

Re file explorer have you tried ES File Explorer works on both my U22 and U1 without problems.

I'm not excusing this bug but another very good option is FX File Explorer. Which presently doesn't appear to have any issues.

I'm not certain what the app developers are changing/improving in these apps but it would appear that maybe something needs to change also in the firmware to keep up with them.

@Marty has freely used his own time to try and find out what needs to be implemented.

Version 79.0.5 as of 17 Aug

I just updated to verify the issue and was greeted with this...

...and yes, I confirm the issue!

Version 79.0.5 as of 17 Aug

Strange, I'm not seeing that update available on any of my Android devices, must be a staggered or regional roll-out.

Anyway, having a look on the Mozilla developer pages this caught my eye.

Enable/Disable touch simulation - Toggles whether or not Responsive Design Mode simulates touch events. While touch event simulation is enabled, mouse events are translated into touch events; this includes (starting in Firefox 79) translating a mouse-drag event into a touch-drag event.
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Responsive_Design_Mode#:~:text=Toggling Responsive Design Mode,-There are three&text=From the Developer Tools toolbox,Opt + M on macOS)

That seems to align with some of the comments on this thread by Marty related to "touch events".
Isn't this all solved in prior update by tweaking the KL file?
It drives me nuts. Browsers is one of the main thing I do with this box and latest firmware revert back all the .KL tweaks and made the browsers unusable with airmouse again.

My Neo A3 airmouse allowed me to scroll up and down Firefox pages until I updated to ver. 79 yesterday, and I can still use it to scroll up and down the 'tabs' page in ver. 79, so scrolling with the A3 in Firefox has not been completely
disabled, just on webpages where I most need it. Before updating to ver. 79 yesterday, I was unable to move some webpage embedded Google Maps with the A3 airmouse pointer as they required the use of two fingers, but having updated to ver. 79 I can use the A3 pointer to move these embedded maps and the 'use two fingers' instruction does not appear.

Looks like multiple changes occurred at the same times. Making it even trickier to fix. I remember few years back the Mozilla/Android/Firefox folks reintroduced these AirMouse problems. It took a while to fix. After spending the evening researching, I'm starting to feel we might have issues on both ends (Apps AND OS). And since I'm not technical enough to word the bug narrative properly, it's hard to be taken seriously. I opened one bug on Mozzilla/Android/Firefox yesterday and they closed it 5 seconds later, refering it to an open since 2019 Chromium bug. If it's known and unresolved since 2019. Then why the heck everything was fine until I updated my U22 to 005FW. :-( I think I'm gonna cry.
