Issue with video looping on Android box

Hi there,

I seem to be experiencing a strange issue when trying to loop videos on my android device.

I have tried using VLC and MX player. Both allow you to set a video to loop, but in my case, every time the video ends, instead of looping back to the beginning of the video it seems to start looping again at 5-10 seconds in each time. I have checked the settings in both VLC and MX player and I can't see anywhere where I might have instructed it to do this. It's really strange.

I am using HALauncher

Occasionally I am lucky and it does start at the beginning of the video so the issue appears to be random.

Does anyone know why this might be?

Also, a secondary issue...
VLC is also annoying because it asks you every time you select a video whether or not you want it to start from the beginning (which I do) or where you left off. Can't this be set to just play from the beginning each time? When it does loop however the transition is smooth.

MX Player will automatically play from the beginning when a video is selected but there is a black screen for about 5 seconds before the video starts playing again.

So neither are ideal really. Can anyone suggest another player that will play from the beginning without me asking to each time and start looping again without a pause?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Specifying your particular model might help ;)!!

Try Kodi, you can specify a delay for media to start after a change of refresh rate etc., might help.

Thanks,

The model is a NEO U9-H 64-bit Octa Core Media Hub

The looping issue is occurring with ALL media players I have tried.

Here's an example.

I have an 8 minute video. Let's say I play it from the start and exit to the menu on 4 minutes.

Then I select the video again and let it run to the end. When it starts looping, instead of playing the video from the beginning it will start playing at 4 minutes in i.e where I exited the video the previous time it was played.

Like I say, I have tried a whole host of video players for android and the same issue is occurring on all of them.

@cjhill
You can try kodi 18.5 stable (the best media player by far in my opinion).
https://kodi.tv/

Use default minix metro launcher (instead of the one you use) and try repeat function on the video (i never tested but i think you can do that, i will test that).

@cjhill

Check this in kodi 18.5:
1- go to your file and do this:
select file (long press IR remote control ok key) and select queue item
2-go to view options (click IR remote control left key ) and go to playlist
3-go to video playlist - select repeat one (this is for repeat only one file)

After you do that you can repeat your videos.
I Tested and it works.

@notrui

Thanks for the advice.

The launcher that I am using allows me to set shortcuts to videos on a home screen with my own custom labels and thumbnails so changing the interface at this stage is not an option as it is set up and works perfectly as intended...

I have a custom background with 6 videos as thumbnails that i can just select.

Strangely enough, by chance after trying everything under the sun I found 'MoviePlayer' which is a default video player for this device. It's not got the best UI but it will loop a video from the beginning each time. It's not a seemless transition and you do get a black screen for about 3 seconds before the video starts re-playing. It's not ideal but it works.

Ideally I would still like to get to the bottom of the issue, no idea how it is happening. It seems such a simple thing to be able to achieve, yet it seems so impossible.
