Just upgraded my U9-H to a new box, how can I transfer all my files over?

As the title says, I just retired the U9-H and got a new box. I’m wondering how I can transfer all the roms and movie files that I have on the U9 over to the new box?
I have a micro sd card in the U9 and thought I could just remove it from that and put it into the new box, but it’s not reading all the files off it, I don’t know what’s the reason for this. So it looks like I’m just going to get some new storage devices for the new box and leave the old card in the U9. But I’m still stumped as what’s the best way to get all my roms and movie files over to the new box?
is there any apps that I can use and install on both boxes and transfer over WiFi or Ethernet? Or could I just get a new usb stick, format it in the new box and then stick it back into the U9 and copy the files back onto it that way?

Hope someone can help, thanks

Any idea if it would work from box to box? I’d assume I’d install the app on both boxes and then transfer the files over from the U9 to the new box via WiFi?
Thats how I use it, box to box, box to phone etc...Yes install on both units, it is extremely simple to use.

Why use microSD cards? I use external hard disks and have had up to 24 TERAbytes attached (via USB port) and working.

Since you do not appear to need that much storage, get a portable USB HD and plug it into a USB port. Alternately, get a large capacity USB Memory stick and attach via USB port.

Why purchase any hardware to move files when you can simply beam them around lol ;)?

(Don't get me wrong, I previously had 3 x 8TB attached to a U9-H too before swapping them out for dedicated NAS.)

However, not everyone wants or needs such hardware, or they want the easiest way it can be done from an armchair without even getting up lol ;).

Hey, I’m having an issue now trying to transfer some larger files between boxes. I’m wondering can anyone help?

What I’m trying to do is get some large movie files over 4gb in size off my old minix u9 android box and copy them onto my new box.
I’ve bought a brand new 256gb Samsung Bar Plus memory stick and I’m facing an issue when trying to copy some of the large video files over onto it.

I formatted the stick in the new box and I’ve been transferring some files between both boxes via WiFi using “send files to tv” app and for the most part it’s been working ok. It’s just for files over 4gb they won’t copy onto the new boxes memory stick. It’s coming back as an error message once they hit the 4gb mark of the transfer.
I take it because it’s in FAT format it won’t take files over 4gb?

Do you know if there’s any way I can get the files onto the memory stick?
I was originally able to download these large files directly onto my old minix box from torrents straight onto the external sd card I had in it, so I’d assume it would have worked by sending the files from that old card onto the new memory stick on the new box?
I had the old sd card in the minix box set up as an external drive and was able to download and copy large files onto it no problem.

I did try removing the old sd card from the minix u9 and see will it read in the new android 9 box, but for some reason it’s not reading the actual files. It’s showing them there but showing the sizes as 0kb.

Am I doing this in a messy way, is there a better way to transfer these large files from the old box to the new one? Or is it correct and I just need to figure out the memory stick issue?

Sorry about the questions, appreciate the help

best to format to ntfs

Will android 9 be compatible with ntfs? I wasn't sure if it would be able to read the memory stick if it was formatted this way?

I can give it a go, but is there a way to format to exfat or ntfs on Android, any apps to do this on the play store?

pop a ntfs stick in your pc and copy over the files to it from the u9 using its samba server connection
note : for the u9 xmodulo use u9-h

I actually don’t have access to any form of desktop or laptop for the foreseeable future, so I’d be needing to be able to format the usb stick via the box if its possible to do?

On Android you will get USB to format to Fat32. This won't allow files of over 4GB.

Since you can't access a PC there are two options. Get a SDXC card and it will be automatically formated to exFat in Android, or if you can get to a Playstation4 it will have the option to format a USB pen into exFat.

@stoksyxl Have I missed it or am I correct in the fact that you haven't mentioned which new box you have?!

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to mention that I bought another similar box to the u22.
I had been a loyal minix customer for years, with the x8 and the u9. Then I went and ordered a u22 but cancelled it after it was released officially and saw all the teething problems it’s having, with no timeline for a FW update with the necessary fixes. So I looked about and got it’s equivalent instead and seems to be fine.

It‘s just the memory stick issue I’m having that‘s bugging me now trying to get the larger files off the old u9 box.
