Kodi 18 b5 is out

Hi, not sure why you directed me to the Kodi forum link? Could not find my answer there.

I have placed the same question in the Kodi forum a few months back with no answers, https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=331840&pid=2753852#pid2753852

I might have better luck in this forum.
Therefore, if anyone is running Kodi 18 Leia beta 1 or higher on a Minix X8H-PLUS, I would like to know how many resolutions are listed in your whitelist?

I read the thread and it seems that Kodi 17 and below had a few hacks in the code to get around refresh rates. It's now been removed and replaced with proper refresh resolution switching. You may need to remove everything and reinstall 18 as a fresh install.

Did a fresh install but still the same result, Whitelist only shows one resolution, 1920x1080p @60Hz and everything plays back at this rate.
what firmware are you running, Kodi 18 requires Android v5 according to their wiki

I'm using the Minix one as in this post here
It's only a release candidate ie a beta. You might need to post your issues on the device firmware thread so MINIX can look into it. If they based their firmware on the hacks and they worked on 17 and below, they might not realise that 18 has new proper switching code and needs changing at the MINIX firmware level.

You say it works perfectly on your MINIX NEO U1.
Can you please tell me how many resolution settings there are in the Whitelist?
That's because the MINIX NEO U1 is not the same box, it was built on Lollipop from the ground up. It's irrelevant what my box says, it appears that your box has bugs in the firmware and therefore irrespective of adding resolutions etc, it STILL won't work until MINIX test 18 on their box and reproduce the same bug. Your box was based on KitKat. At that point, the resolution switching hacks were still in Kodi. Moving to a new version that now doesn't have any, they need to test their firmware again. Adding more whitelist settings won't fix your problem. Raise a ticket with minix to investigate. My NEO U1 works perfectly on 5.1.1.

Thanks, but I won't be doing this as its a waste of time.
I believe Minix have stopped working on the Lollipop Rom RC2 since December 2017.
And yes, the X8H-PLUS is an old box.

So its time for me to look at the latest MINIX NEO U9-H.
Will Kodi 18 Leia run perfectly on the Minix NEO U9-H with the correct frame rate switching?

frame rate switching works fine on kodi 17.6 and minix u9.

i cant speak for kodi 18 as havent tried it yet and not likley to until its out of beta / RC

if your not in a desparate hurry you may want to wait for the x39 which should be available soon

I just hope that the new x39 is around the 100 dollar mark, otherwise I'd buy the Nvidia Shield TV which looking at the spec of the x39 is nowhere near as good. That's what MINIX is up against now, it's the price point of their models.

unistalled kod 18 went back to 17.6 still getting dolby digital drop puts yet atmos works fine
Have you checked the Kodi bug page to see if it's a bug that needs to be fixed, if not, post it. However, I'd check other DD5.1 files and see if they do the same thing. Perhaps it's just the file? Is it corrupt? I'm using RC1 here and I have no issues.

I can confirm on my Minix neo u9h I also get short Audio drop outs on DTS and DD5.1 files.

That's not possible unless there is a file reading issue over the network. Create and add an advancedsettings.xml to your local installation and retest (check Kodi for the examples) . If you are using DTS or DD5.1, your audio will be set to pass thru so its not being decoded and processed by Kodi The other issue could be a lack of storage space. Recheck the above and come back.
