Yes, as long as you install the apk from kodi website
Useful to know, I could replace my Kodi 17.6 on my Android boxes with the apk from Kodi website, then wait for Leia to be fixed for Android before upgrading.

yes, create a backup of your current kodi set up using kodi backup addon and then restore that to your fresh install of kodiUseful to know, I could replace my Kodi 17.6 on my Android boxes with the apk from Kodi website, then wait for Leia to be fixed for Android before upgrading.

Do you know how they got theirs to work?
Curious as to why you think having Kodi save its data to an SD card is beneficial ?Once cleaned, install Kodi 18 RC5. DO NOT RUN
Make sure your SD Card is inserted and is a FAST Class 10 or above speed. Slow cards will slow down Kodi. USB can be used if you have a micro drive such as the Samsung MUF-BB 64 GB USB 3.0 MicroFit Flash Drive
Create the file using a text editor:-
xbmc_env.properties
https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Change_data_location_for_Android
Once Kodi is run for the first time, it will save all of Kodi's data to the SD Card/USB Drive
Now you run Kodi 18 RC5 for the first time. Let it do it's thing and create the file/folder structure on the newly setup configuration.
Once it's finished and the ENTER FILES screen appears. EXIT KODI.
If you have a skin that uses fanart for TV, MOVIES, MUSIC etc etc and PVR etc, it's best to let Kodi have enough space to do it without fear of taking up internal storage. It then leaves the MINIX Internal storage for other apps rather than Kodi files leaving nothing left to useCurious as to why you think having Kodi save its data to an SD card is beneficial ?
fair enough i guess but in the all the years i have been using kodi ( and years prior when it was xbmc !) with skins that utilse fan art and widgets in a similar scenario as to what you describe I have never had to use external memory. If you have a skin that uses fanart for TV, MOVIES, MUSIC etc etc and PVR etc, it's best to let Kodi have enough space to do it without fear of taking up internal storage. yes, no worries, happy daysIt's up to people how they use the Box. If people use it for other things that require internal storage, and remember this is Lollipop and doesn't allow you to extend your external storage as internal, it makes sense to configure apps to make best use of your system. Obviously that's what I use, others have asked how mine works and that's my method and installation that for me works 100%. If others use this method and it makes Kodi 17/18 work perfectly, then my help hasn't been in-vain.
