Kodi 18 Leia final is out !

18 'installed its self' 2 days ago. All settings and extras copied over perfectly BUT.... I'm having problems with audio and/or video in the form of complete loss of sound and picture or sometimes just the sound.

At first it appeared to effect just AC3 encoded films, but I also started to notice it was effecting HEVC and 256 encoding. All my previous settings were copied over from 17.6 which worked flawlessly. I have been playing around with the settings and have turned off 'video sync' and 'adjust frame rate - always'. This has helped a bit but I am still finding films which either do not work at all (just blank black screen), skip to the next available stream, or, produce video but no sound.

I 'think' it is a setting issue but so far I can't find out what setting(s) to change. I'm using 'Pass-through' to a Pioneer VSX 330 which 'should' be able to handle any codecs. So far it doesn't seem to effect any TV series streams only films.

Forgot to mention, I also get stuttering and echo on sound when first booting up Kodi (but not every time). It only seems to last for about 5 - 6 sec then stops and works normally. Apart from the above.

I have no problem using kodi 18 in my x8h plus (i was in kodi 17.6). The problem may be configuration . I recomend you put kodi in factory reset (fresh start), then make a few changes in settings and use kodi backup addon and save the data/settings to a NAS or external drive for example.
If you have any problem next time use restore from backup addon .

Many thanks 'notrui2' for the message and help.

I've just been doing some further reading on the Kodi 'wiki' site showing recommended settings for windows based devices.

It seems to indicate that if you have set your audio output device to WASPI but don't have the 'Intel Management Engine' installed which provides HD audio drivers you will not get proper pass through of decoded audio. In fact, it goes on to say "do not use the Realtek HD Audio drivers as they do not work with the event driven mode Kodi uses for WASAPI".

When I checked my NEO Z83-4 specs it shows I only have Realtek drivers installed.

Are you able to verify if you have Intel or Realtek drivers on your system?

Please read this :

Download the drivers if you dont have and try.

In sound, video and game controllers (device manager) you are able to see the driver installed.
Change the audio driver by clicking in right mouse button and update the driver if you need.

I dont have a minix z83-4 , i have laptop windows pcs and a minix x8h plus (android based), so i cannot verify
