Kodi on Minix Neo T5 cannot reconnect to PC using dynamic IP

I have all the media sources on different folders at my PC.
They are configured at Kodi with SMB using the Server Name.
It has been working for months, until my PC has changed its IP address. How can this issue be fixed so I can keep using the Server Name instead of the IP address?

Kodi 19.1.0 on MINIX Neo T5
PC running Windows 10 (DHCP)
Both connected through WiFi router

Than you in advance

my suggestion would be to reserve the IP address of your PC in your router so it becomes a fixed address and then set your kodi media sources via the IP address.

Your best option has already been highlighted by the guys at the end of the day.

However, you had already suggested another direct solution in the topic of your thread too anyway...

...Simply assign the Win 10 PC itself a fixed IP. (If for whatever reason your router doesn't include such settings (older models may not include the feature) it's an option, but it's not exactly rocket science to reserve an IP by a MAC address if the feature is available. Common issues assigning fixed IPs on any given device themselves are IP conflicts, but that's generally not an issue if you keep track of any specific IPs you do manually assign ;).)

Thank you. I have already solved it by assigning a fixed IP with the PC MAC address at the router.

But, just for curiosity, I am wondering: Why did it work with the Server name the first time I configured it? Why now it doesn't work with the server name anymore, even after completely deleting all the media sources and creating them again? Is that something that can be fixed?

If you use SMB shared folders: (view attached file)
Enable SMB/CIFS file sharing support (search for this on your windows OS)

I tested all kodi shared folders methods:
1-Using device name (servername) is slower and might not work as it should be
2-Using static ip adress: (on your windows, server)
If using the IP Address method, ensure you reserve a DHCP address (static IP) for your NAS or other hardware. This ensures that your router will always allocate the same IP address to the server. If you choose not to do this, then you may find that the router has allocated a different address to your NAS and Kodi will no longer be able to access the media files.

Last method is: (and if router supports is the best option)
-enter and assign static leases : (on your router)
MAC adress ; hostname; ip adress; client lease time expiration
-the rest of the devices (PCs, minix devices, etc) can be with DHCP enable (default network options)

Note:
Of course second method and the last method are the same, but instead of putting the fixed ip on several hardware, put it on just one (in this case the router), if you can do it and if it works well for you it is the best option.
