kodi shutting box down?

I agree with you.

The device must work well with the default firmware (in this case standard android OS, CoreElec in my option is just an user option, i don´t use CoreElec).
But do first a "stress test" and test the device some time, to be sure is not a user problem/configuration...

If your device continues to have issues the best thing to do is return the unit.

i agree and have been testing it ir removing the build and using just one add on, i changed from and expensive HDMI cord to a cheap one to see if that may be an issue, tried a diff power cord etc.

ok.
Other things you can do are:
-Update TV firmware (if available)
-change HDMI input
-test with another TV
But i think that above will not solve the problem, but you can try

tv firmware done
changed HDMI input already
dont have another tv to test
but thank you for ur input. i hate to have to return the box and wait for the refund and get another box in hopes a new box works better

thanks but this corelc thing seems to be alot of work for a box that should be working properly and would be afraid of messing up the box. if this persists i may, unfortunately have to return the box. hate to as i love minix
CoreELEC is really simple, if you try it and still have the same issue on CoreELEC then we can eliminate Android being the problem and assume it is a dodgy U22 you have received. You will not be messing up the box in any way so don't be afraid.

I have created this pdf tutorial with pictures which is really simple to follow, please try and report back:

Coreelec in simple terms is just Kodi and looks and behaves more or less exactly like Kodi from the Playstore with just some additional Corelec settings.
It really is easy to install and run, i just do it from a SD card as some USB thumb drives dont work to well.

Kodi runs better in Corelec than Android in the sense that it supports a working frame rate switching and HD audio passthrough , unlike on android.

You can install addons etc as normal, but you cannot install android apps.

I would reccomend you giving it a go following the tutorials mentioned in posts above.

unfortunate it becomes only a kodi box then with no ability to add android apps :(. kinda an expensive box just to run kodi, though that is the main reason for me but i do run other android apps on it so it may not be best for me, thanks. i may need to send the box back unfortunately

if your main reason for the box is Kodi then Coreelec is an excellent option and it takes very little effort and time to get it setup.

When you want to run Android simply pop the card out and reboot.

Minix are aware of the bugs and are looking to resolve in future firmware updates. Although it is taking them longer than we might have wanted dont give up hope just yet :)

I think you are misunderstanding how CoreELEC works, it creates a dual boot so you will still have Android to install your apps in addition to CoreELEC for Kodi. As @pusb87 has highlighted above, this is way better than Kodi on Android with the U22 at the moment, if you want Android you can just boot back via the CoreELEC shut down menu and if you want to go back to CoreELEC just do a restart in Android.

ok guys thanks for all you assistance i will WAIT for the fix....helpfully it gets fixed. rebooting seems a bit of a pain every time i have to get to an android app but may try it. again thanks

What fix? You are the only one reporting Kodi shutting down on you while trying to stream so far. I strongly suggest trying CoreELEC so you can eliminate Android as the problem, if you have the same result with CoreELEC then for sure there is something wrong with your U22 and you should then send it back.

well my BUG may be CEC/HDMI since i get the NO SOURCE on tv screen each time this happens. just only way to fix it is to pull the plug. I dunno if i return the box do i return it to amazon or to minix itself?

do as myself and @Marty have suggested and try Coreelc to see if you get the same issue.
BTW in Corelec Kodi settings there is whole settings option for CEC...you should disable all of them in the first instance ( System>Input>Peripherals)
In the time you have been deliberating you could have had Corelec up and running !!

Try another HDMI input (not HDMI ARC)
and disable CEC in the U22-XJ

@JLKS

I also agree that you can try CoreElec as suggested before.
Of course it is not ideal (for you, for me and most of us) but if the problem remains in CoreElec OS then your device have a hardware problem (presumably)
