Kodi v18 Playback Issues on Minux U1 and U9-H

Kodi 18 has issues with those files also in the U1 which has a different firmware. Playing issues with Xvid files has been long debated on Kodi Forum and not only for version 18, and obviously not Minix boxes related.

and so on and so on.

As stated before this is a Leia and latest official fw problem. works fine with earlier kodi. soo your links makes no sense. Its like i type "stuff" on google and copy paste the links here as a solution and so on. Read what people have problems with!

So if you recon the problem is with Kodi app and if you don't care to acknowledge the fact that Kodi has always had trouble with Xvid as the links show, what do you expect the Minix forum to help you with?

Just curious

Hello.
Please be careful with your language....
Read the forum rules and respect them.

The avi file is incorrectly played by me in Kodi 18.4.
Kodi 17 is not an option because there is an addon that only works under 18.X

in that case run a kodi 17.6 fork as well as kodi 18 if you need

btw...what is the addon that only runs with kodi 18 ?.... pm it if you like

whilst @Defiantz may not put across his views in the best manner he may have a valid viewpoint
I have the exact file that @jpskiller has that caused playback issues and and tried it in a few scenerios

on U1 with 013 FW
plays fine in kodi 17.6, falters in Kodi 18.2

on U9-H with FW 008
plays fine in kodi 17.6, falters in Kodi 18.2

on U9-H with CE android 7 firmware
plays fine in both kodi 17.6 and kodi 18.2

so in conclusion i would say that there is some issues in the relationship between the firmware and Kodi 18 on the stock firmwares of the U1 and U9-H that isnt present when using CE firmware on the U9-H and Kodi 18

:confused::unsure::coffee:

My opinion is this:
In one minix box i will use only one kodi build (example kodi 18.4 ).
I will use this configuration because i want to use kodi NAS server with sql.

In the future If i have a file that i want to see and i can not see i will do these:
-Search for another file or using MKVToolNIX converter as @ArcticWolf said.

Even if didn't use kodi nas server in my opinion using two separate kodi versions (at the same time, kodi 18 and kodi 17 fork) is not the best configuration/setup and i think will bring more future problems....

there are absolutely no issues with having kodi 17 (fork) and kodi 18 installed at the same time , they are completely separate apps.

But can we say that it is between Kodi and Minix firmware?

Other player apps than Kodi seem to have no trouble in reading these files correctly with both firmwares of both mentioned boxes with Android 5 or 6, I tend to get myself convinced that this situation is some kind of a conflict between Kodi 18 and those Android versions, as there are so many complaints in Kodi Forum that don't seem to be Minix specifically related.

But as always I could be wrong.

I have always experienced some issues to have some of my own coded DivX and Xvids read along the years for this or that, finding a player to get them straight was never a big issue, and still isn't, the image quality is so bad I should have dumped them all by now anyway, but some are kids, and family, and friends' marriages...

I really can't get why people oppose so much to having a second player for those files, or as suggested above by @ArcticWolf seconded by @notrui2 to remux the files.

There is a reason I kept Minix XBMC in both U1 and U9...

Hi.
It is my personal opinion what i said and what software i prefer installed (in this case i prefer only one software installed-kodi 18.4 for the moment).
I dont need/want other media player installed and with that i have no problems.
The problems i might have i will try to solve , with another kodi update or with firmware upgrade.

I use this setup for all my devices.

In my PCs i have also installed bs player but i have this software for quick testing my files , kodi is much better ☺

@CybeRider you have more than one device and even if you have just one device.

Take a look at this:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/any-knowledgeable-kodi-mysql-users-please.1274/

If you have a NAS and if your NAS have the possibility of mysql server you may want to install and look around.

Because i have that setup - kodi NAS server (sql) i dont need/want other kodi version installed on my clients.

However i can have and i have at this moment both kodi 18 and kodi 19 on my NAS.

When kodi 19 is stable is just unistall kodi 18 , install kodi 19 (clients) and copy the necessary files to the clients.
I have everything ready ☺.

My sql database is ready.

Keeping all your database in a server is much better.
Imagine that i have to do a firmware upgrade in one of my clients.
If i have to do that i dont have to setup and scan again my whole library, because all data is in the NAS.
This setup as a lot of advantages.

@notrui2, thanks a lot!
I always follow all your great advicing about NAS with great interest as you are one of the very best masters for that technology in the forum.

I'm sending a PM as I have to agree we are goig off topic here.
