Libreelec Minix U9-H

Hi All,

I a newbie with my Minix U9-H and I rely would like to have LibreELEC hard installend on the device.
Is there a failsafe guide to install this? The explaination is a bit hard for the level I am at now.

Help is much appriciated.

I suggest you to install it first on USB/SD to test it. If it suits you then you can install it on internal flah drive.
You can always reverse it and flash android image back.

My suggestion is only use the SD card, If you want to switch back to android version just take out the SD card and you are ready to go. No worries about bricking your system or put images back again.
Working fine for mounts now with version 8.2.4.1

Anybody have experience with the leia version? Is it worth to use this or not stable enough ?

you sure you got that bit right ???

Bad info you're right. You can use an SD Card or USB drive to test CoreELEC. If anything bad happens, you still can boot on internal. It's faster but more risky on internal NAND memory.

Can someone explain the difference between using coreELEC and Android+Kodi?

If not, can someone ref a link which highlights the differences? I’m quite interesting in trying it out but I want to make sure I’m not going through all this transition to realize it wasn’t what I was looking for after all since I still use the box for other stuff like YouTube, Netflix, streaming tv shows, etc...

CoreElec and LibreElec are Linux based.
Only a small kernel with minimum libraries to use Kodi at full speed.
Alright :)

From what I’ve gathered, s912 based devices have significant stuttering issues with Netflix. Is that issue applicable to Core and LibreElec on U9-H?

And difference LE and CE

LibreELEC is focused mainly on x86 and RPi.

Most of the CoreELEC team is focused on Amlogic, we also collaborate with the OSMC developers who are also focused on Amlogic because of their Vero4K device.
this is for me important part to switch over, If im satisfied im stick to CE

Don't know yet witch one is better but first impression is that CE running fast(er) on interface.

builds consist of the OSMC kernel and numerous patches which fix a number of problems related to running Kodi on Amlogic hardware along with the very latest and bleeding edge version of Kodi.

wrxtasy builds are Krypton (17.6) where as CoreELEC is Leia (18).

First quick test of 4k with and without HDR and 1080p are good just test 5 min. yet.. , will watch complete movie tonight)
When set to 4k 4096x2160 max 24fps or 3840x2160 max 60fps other movies 720p, 1080p works fine. But the output is where you put the setting on
There is a option whitelist screen resolutions (from 720 to 4k ) also, did not play with that yet or see what that is doing.
I can put my TV HDMI settings on version 2 without having a black screen. On LE need to have this on HDMI version 1. Maybe it's a TV thing but this is different for me.

My setup by the way
Panasonic viera CX800 65" 4k (with hdr)
Marantz SR6010

Netflix on kodi 18 leia
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=329767
https://github.com/asciidisco/plugin.video.netflix

need to test this one time, but my TV got netflix so no rush for me ;)

EDIT:

Got Netflix working on CE kodi 18 leia but it runs stuttering and not smooth at all. Also the quality is bad
Already set display settings on HD with low refresh rate no luck.

- Download the Netflix reposity repository.netflix
- Install the repository on your machine using Install from zip
next part I had to install first my self did not do this automatically.
- Install the add on Inputstream Adaptive >> go to add ons -> search add on manualy > inputstream.adaptive > install this
- Go to settings Netflix - fill in account information
- Start a series or movie and the program will ask to install widevine follow the steps to install. Ad end will take a while but then the video will play.

Netflix is not my prio ( and beside stuttering quality is bad ) now but maybe somebody else can figure this thing out.
