Light with music symbol blinking

Hi all,

Sometimes my remote starts blinking the red light under the music symbol (the one on the right) and it seems to drain the battery very quickly. I don't know how to turn it off nor why it turns on.

Can someone please advise?

Thanks

It seems to be a persistent issue that some owners experience & others don't. I had problems with it a few months ago then it just stopped by itself. Recent updates seem to have triggered the problem again though.

You can stop the flashing LED by pressing & holding the MIC button on the remote for 3-4 seconds. However, as soon as you return to a home screen or trigger certain apps it may start again & you'll have to repeatedly disable it manually.

The Google App/Assistant seems to be a factor with my a3 despite disabling various features such as OK Google from any screen. After a Google update a few weeks ago the mic & gyro's on my a3 were constantly live. The remote wouldn't enter sleep mode at all & I was going through rechargeable batteries every 72 hours or less. (I uninstalled all updates for Google, clear caches & allowed it to auto update again. Since then my a3 won't sleep whenever my U9-H is on a home screen, as soon as I launch an app such as Kodi the remote goes to sleep as normal.)

Unfortunately, you may just have to put up with it until another update sorts it. Rechargeable batteries would be a good idea as well.

Yes, that is exactly the behavior on my remote.

Disabling google voice recognition seemed to help. If not, I'll just follow your mic button suggestion.

Thanks for your reply!

Glad it helped, hopefully you got lucky then :). Disabling voice recognition used to help mine in the past but it isn't anymore since Google revamped the "Assistant" app.

It is an annoying issue but the main thing is everything is stable otherwise ;). Fingers crossed a random update from Google fixes it again soon!!

i have the same issue , i hope that it will get solved soon

Another option I'd completely forgotten that I'd used in the past for this problem that DEFINITELY works.....

.....Enter U9-H Settings --> Audio --> Sound Devices --> Input Devices --> choose Onboard Mic Input.

It disables the mic on the a3 & allows the a3 to sleep normally :). Obviously, you will completely lose ALL voice input/control, so don't forget you changed this setting if you intend to use voice controls again in the future!!

Choose Auto or USB-Audio - SAGE AirMouse if you'd like to re-enable the mic on the a3 at a later time.

Hope that helps :).

I turned to this forum to solve this annoying issue on my new remote and quickly found your post. That solved my problem. Thank you

An older thread but just adding some further information for others that may still be experiencing this issue (or for those who may come across it in the future) still seeking a fix.

Obviously, you can still use the established method above but the unfortunate downside is you do then lose all voice control options from your A3. (If you previously tried this & disabled your A3's mic?..... Try reenabling it again now, it's possible that Google updates in the interim may have simply resolved it.) In the past I didn't use the voice control much from the A3 myself, but I have found it increasingly useful in a couple of apps with the U9-H more recently :). The problem above aside, it works well.

Can't be bothered to read the rest lol;)!! Ultimately, if you haven't installed any apps that include voice control that could be malfunctioning & hijacking the A3's mic in some way, or you just can't resolve it. Your options are either factory reset/re-flash your U9-H if you'd like voice control back, or just stick with your A3's mic disabled if you're not bothered about any voice control at all. The odds are extremely good your A3 will behave normally & as expected after a factory reset which makes it worthwhile if you'd like voice control back again :).

Otherwise, from hours of testing across multiple U9-Hs combined with several A3s, repeatedly reflashing these devices between the stock MINIX firmware ROMs & the CE beta ROMs since the previous posts.....

..... It's been incredibly difficult to get this problem to present itself again. However, I have still seen it on both the stock & CE ROMs but in most cases a Google app/system updated again & cleared it. I certainly can't get it to reproduce with any reliability at all & it is very much random.

The only way I have got this issue to repeat a couple of times is by re-flashing with the stock MINIX FW006/FW007 & allowing the device to update OTA to FW008. Voila, it's been present but it usually clears following Google updates as well. A subsequent factory reset has cleared it when it did get stuck.

(Why would I bother re-flashing with the older FW006/007 & OTA updating you ask lol ;)? FW006/007 both have the option for the "backdrop" as a daydream/screensaver that isn't present if you flash directly with FW008, or the CE ROM's. It's a feature I've always used with my main stock U9-H (or on my old Chromecast). (It's a Google daydream/screensaver that's more or less identical to the backdrop on an actual Chromecast device. They display a rotation of some absolutely incredible photo collections if you're wondering lol ;).))

Hope it may be of some use in the future :).
