Hi,

Over many years I was a proud windows user, now is simply shoot (sory the language) and full of bugs, disregard user privacy, updates not controlable by user and so on... Because of that I am simply migrating all my systems (the ones that I can at least to linux -it seems s superb system without most of windows drawbacks). However, I cant understand why linux is not more user friendly (is so dificult to make this happend?), the command line can still exist for the ones that want it...

It is why I am interested in Linuxmint.

Can you please upload a LinuxMint iso. I try to respin a LinuxMint image but I was unable to do so and always get several errors hope that you can help me.

cheers

I just ordered a Minix Neo Z83-4U with Ubuntu. I am also interested in installing Linux Mint. From what I read in the forums, the motherboard requires a 32 bit boot loader, instead of the 64 bit version that comes with 64 bit Mint. So, there may be some kind of workaround to get Mint to work. I plan to try installing Linux Mint and choose the option to 'install along side Ubuntu'. That should keep the original Ubuntu install on the SSD along with the original bootloader, shrink it, and install Linux Mint on a new partition for a dual boot. 64gb should be plenty of space for a dual boot with both OS's. If the Mint install doesn't work, I should still be able to boot back in to Ubuntu to reclaim the space. Note the word SHOULD, so it might or might not work. But of course, I'll have to wait till my Z83-4U arrives in the mail to try this and post my results then. I'm new to these forums by the way. This is my first post.

I tried installing Linux Mint MATE, Linix Mint Debian Edition and Lubuntu today. The wifi adapter was not recognized by any of them. Any tips for getting wifi to work before I wipe Ubuntu?

Since installing Mint didn't work, I looked for other sollutions. I really tried to like the Gnome 3 desktop environment, but after a month it had to go. The 'Activities' didn't seem to do anything and the Gnome Dock is kind of lame. Instead of wiping the factory Ubuntu install and replacing it with Mint, I installed the MATE desktop environment using these instructions:

https://www.hiroom2.com/2019/06/13/ubuntu-1904-mate-en/

Now I'm a happy camper. My familiar desktop environment is back and I can customize it any way I want. Plus, I still have a the factory software and wifi still works.

Well done :)!!

Thanks for reporting back with your successes as well as your difficulties too, (many people just don't bother once their original issue has been resolved).

Hopefully your system runs relatively trouble free from here on out :).

True what you say about windows drawbacks but for me struggling trying to understand how to install the correct way Linux and how to configure it for example for Kodi usage is even worst.

So I think I’ll stick to windows for still many years
