List of compatible DDR4 and M.2 2280 SATA III SSD

Samsung 860 EVO SATA M.2 1TB confirmed compatible. Running it with two of the popular Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/S (PC4-19200) SR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT8G4SFS824A for a total of 16GB.

Specifically, I bought this: Samsung 860 EVO SSD 1TB - M.2 SATA Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-N6E1T0BW)
SSD on Amazon. I was tempted to try the 2TB out of sheer curiosity, just seemed like a lot of $$ for a garage computer.

Cloned with Data Migration tool from Samsung, activated in BIOS and here we are.

Before and after performance stats via Samsung Magician software, for what it's worth:

Thanks for the feedback, i added the 1TB SSD Samsung in the compatible list.
Great job and great pictures ! (y)

I can also confirm Crucial CT2K8G4SFS824A 16 GB Kit (8 GB x2) (DDR4, 2400 MT/s, PC4-19200, Single Rank x8, SODIMM, 260-Pin) Memory is compatible. (y)

Just acquired a Minix J50C-4 Max with 8 GB RAM.
The unit comes with a single memory module from:
Kimtigo
M/N: KT8GS4NE8
8GB 1Rx8PC4-21300S-19

  1. Is this normal stock RAM in Minix PCs?
  2. Which module of 8GB should I pair to get double channel and 16 GB total capacity?

Memory info using RAMMon v1.1 Build 1002:

Thx!

Hi,

I have the MINIX NEO J50C-4 max and I bought the CORSAIR Vengeance CMSX16GX4M2A2400C16 DDR4 - 2x 8Gb 2400, SO-DIMM and it doesn't work, no boot, no BIOS.. I returned them and they gave me two other, same brand, didn't work either. I don't get it, that RAM is listed as tested.

I also updated the BIOS to 0.17 as it is mentionned on this forum and it won't work... fan runs but no display and no BIOS, and no boot.

Can someone help please ?

Did you make sure the memory modules were seated correctly?

Another member recently reported after installing two 8GB modules that the device only saw one of them. The reason being a poorly seated module!
I installed two 8 gig ram chips and the unit only sees 8 gigs
EDIT: Ram wasn't fully seated.

HI Villa,

Both memory modules correctly seated, triple checked.

Also original 8Gb RAM works in both sockets..

Do I need to enable something in BIOS? Normally any compatble RAM change is always recognized direclty, no?

I've always build my own PC's and I don't get it.

Nonetheless, it's also the second NEW set of 8GB RAM that I try into the same machine.

Just did.. yes

Doesn't work either

Also inverted modules Original<=>corsair slots, and with the other ram module

I finally ended up returning the CORSAIR set and buying 1x 8GB of the same RAM module that comes with the PC, Kingston..

It was directly recognized by the system and it runs well now.

I have the MINIX NEO J50C-4 MAX maybe the sockets or something else isn't compatible with the CORSAIR Vengeance CMSX16GX4M2A2400C16 DDR4 - 2x 8Gb 2400, SO-DIMM modules.

To be clear, I had two new sets of RAM tested and it didn't work. And yes it was properly seated.

Thank you to those who replied to my querry

I nearly suggested that! I did wonder why you were buying a pair?

It shouldn't make a difference!

Hi,

Because the CORSAIR pair was directly on stock and the original (1 module RAM) wasn't..

Also, as it's always recommended to use the same brand for both socket I checked with the compatibility list from your site. When I saw that someone comfirmed that the CORSAIR was compatible, I bought it because it was seemingly the best choice at the time being (on stock)

You have a user who confirmed the CORSAIR Vengeance CMSX16GX4M2A2400C16 DDR4 - 2x 8Gb 2400, SO-DIMM set, and now you have someone who tried not one, but two, completely new pairs of that same RAM and it didn't work. That's what happened to me. And trust me or not, but it was well seated.

I am just giving my feedback on that specific RAM set, wich to me hasn't been compatible with the MINIX NEO J50C-4 MAX that I bought and that I had to configure as my Astrophotography image acquisition PC. Needed the extra RAM for multitask.

When you have clear skies you want to take advantage of all the imaging time you can get, that's why I chose the recommended RAM set available at my usual computer store. They know me well, and I bought everything concerning computer component over many years to them. That's why I had the "chance" to return two new RAM sets.

You must be wondering.. yes they tested both RAM sets, no default.

The MINIX NEO J50C-4 MAX is a very nice product and the fact it runs on 12V is why I chose it over other brands (19V).

Best regards

I bought a stick of refurbished Samsung M471A1K43DB1-CTD (tech specs), which is similar to the sticks mentioned as officially supported in the opening post, for £24 (US$33 / 28 EUR) with a lifetime guarantee from a large, reputable supplier. I would be happy to provide the name of the retailer if that's allowed (I have no connection to the company).

Installation was easy (thank you, Minix, for a sensible design) and it works without issue. The machine shows 2x8GB and HWINFO shows timing tables matching the pre-installed Kingston module at 2400 MT/s.

The blue in the photo is a nitrile glove (anti-static) with a wrist band as well (outside of the photo).

Hello All.. Dumb question: I just received my MINIX J50C-8SE and I would like to add another 8gb of ram (Crucial CT8G4SFS824A). Should I get the 2x8gb kit or only the additional 8gb module?
Thanks!

Would you be so kind of indicating the steps followed to upgrade the SSD? My J50C-8SE has only one slot available which is currently used by the 240GB SSD. Replacing this with a new one would require copy the OS which I understand is embed in the BIOS or something?
Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

The first thing to do is a full backup of your system. You can use a free tool like AOMEI Backup.
Then change your SSD and restore your backup on it.

You can add just one more piece.
Try to match with the same specifications!

I added the 2 piece kit because my J50C-4 had only 4GB of RAM.
