to confirm what @ArcticWolf has advised

I also have a MyCloud(Home) NAS storage device and I would suggest for Kodi 19 to see your media then assign an a "fixed" IP to your MyCloud from the router and then connect via SMB using the settings shown below. Also using Kodi file manager add a new source using the IP address/folder to where your media is located on your MyCloud.

Everything works fine :)(y)

Thank you. I didn't have to go SMB way. MyCloud is already working on a fixed IP. I just enabled uPnP in the settings and the MyCloud was discovered.

Thank you for the reply and also ticking me off for not putting enough effort (double checking) before reverting.
I installed Kodi 19 again and was able to add MyCloud drive as my source. I was also successfully able to play videos. But I noticed following issues:-

1. I enabled the Watchlist addon but still no checkmarks came up on videos I watched. By watched I mean I started to play a video then moved the slider randomly till I reached the end of video. But even on restarting the Kodi, the watched indication did not come up. I am sure I configured the addon correctly.

2. I enabled to download subtitles if no local subs are found. I enabled some subs addons such as opensource etc but none get a subtitle. I remember a very good subs addon "BSPlayer" which is there in XBMC and almost always finds a sub for me.

3. My Minix is connected through an HDMI to my DTS 7.2 receiver. In audio settings I enabled audio passthough to play movies with multi channel audio (DTS) in its native format. However I noticed that with this setting enabled (passthough enabled) there is no audio heard. I can only hear where passthrough is disabled. This however works absolutely fine on XBMC.

Now I am not propagating XBMC but Kodi 19 seems to be adding more issues than I bargained for.

Any help?

LOL, I wasn't ticking you off mate, it's just advice/info for you to use as you so choose :).

Otherwise...

1. You don't need to install another add-on for watched status, Kodi already has that feature natively.

2. Subscene worked well for me with Kodi 18 subs but admittedly I haven't tried it with Kodi 19.

3. Double check the actual device audio settings & all of Kodi's audio settings again as you may have missed a step. Also, ensure the "sync playback to display" option is disabled or passthrough won't work. (I also use an AVR. Kodi 18 functioned very well with audio passthrough & so far I haven't experienced any issues at all testing Kodi 19 too.)

It's still relatively early days with Kodi 19 & it doesn't yet have as many add-ons available as Kodi 18 previously had, have you tried Kodi 18 instead?

Additionally, you previously mentioned that your original XBMC stopped updating watched status', it also hasn't been working with Kodi 19, & you reverted back to a fresh XBMC where the watched status failed again which would indicate you have a global issue rather than one version being affected. (Obviously the audio passthrough option could be specific to your hardware & Kodi 19.)

Have you been installing this extra watchlist add-on every time? (That could be the actual cause in that it's cancelling out Kodi's native feature.). Or, am wondering if there's an issue with your source as to why your watched status are not correctly updating? (Perhaps @pusb87 could help you troubleshoot that aspect as he also uses a MyCloud & from previous discussions his watched status have always seemed to work well with Kodi 17, 18 & 19!!??)

If you're still not getting anywhere after all of this I'd suggest installing the log viewer add-on as well & enable component specific logging in Kodi. From the log files you may immediately see the errors yourself to be able to quickly correct the problem. Otherwise, you'll probably have to upload a copy of your log file for the Kodi devs to debug a cause.

^^^^^. Am also wondering if your insistence on using UPnP instead of SMB is part of why your watched status aren't correctly updating too!!!!???!!!??!?!

I primarily use Trakt to monitor watched / progress status etc ....its so easy and no worrying about backups, crashes, kodi updates etc :)(y)

It is your choice of using uPnP.

My advice:
Use NFS (and if not available SMB)

One Huge disavantage of using uPnP:
Security problem - Vulnerability lets attackers steal data, scan internal networks... (and for me this is one of the big issues with uPnP)

Not at all mate, just on the lighter side. Having read through various posts, here is what I think I should try:-
1 I have been enabling the "watchlist" addon. Which as per you could be affecting the XBMC's native "watchlist" feature. So I guess I will disable this plugin and see what happens.
2. Will try once with Kodi 18. Hopefully my audio issue, subs and watchlist will see some progress.
3. Finally will give Trakt a try.

By the way I have been using uPnP from day 1 and watchlist was working absolutely fine. Nothing has changed on my file storage side (MyCloud).

Thanks

Nothing happened. There was no effect of not enabling watchlist addon.

Kodi 18 did get installed correctly and there were no audio issues. The watchlist still did not work. Moreover I noticed there was jittering in playing 4k media from MyCloud drive which XBMC is able to play without any glitch. Subscene and BSPlayer add on for subs worked fine.
3. Finally will give Trakt a try.
Yet need to experiment this though I have made the account.
