Minix Neo U1 can't boot/turn on, LED always red; help!

Hi all, have been using the minix neo u1 for about 2 years + now with no issues, but just yesterday my family were just watching their usual k-drama via Kodi and the entire thing just turned off by itself. And it refuses to turn on after that. I've tried switching power sockets, unplugging/replugging the cable base etc and all it gave me is the standby red LED light - no matter how long I held the power button on the device the player refuses to turn on.

Did some more digging and tried using a safety pin at the bottom of box + power button for a factory reset, same result. Tried connecting via usb cable to force a firmware update, and it's the same, it just refuses to turn on. Is my Neo U1 broken? Slightly worried as I think my warranty might be worn out for this box and would rather not spend more money to get another one.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Odd, as I've been using the same power adapter that comes with the Minix box without any issues until now. If it's an issue with the adapter then great, I will just head to the closest hardware store to grab a replacement - unless there's a specific one that I can only buy online? Says 5v on the one I've been using so I'm planning to grab one just like that.

Thanks for the quick response!

It could be something more but first you definitely need to check the output of the PSU.
If you get a new one then it must be 5Vdc 3A.

Ok, so I have the following info on the power adapter sticker that I was using that is working fine until now:

Model : YS03-050300B
Input : 100-240V - 50/60Hz 0.5A Max
Output : 5V = 3000mA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume the 5Vdc 3A values you mentioned that I should be looking for are the same as the ones I currently have on the output section right?

You also have to have the right connector at the U1 end.

If you can find someone with the right power supply, you could try a temporary swap to test if your supply works in their box and vice versa.

Yes 3000mA is 3A

The voltage is the most important as a higher voltage will certainly damage the device.
The current can be lower or higher. Though a lower current will mean the device is under powered.

Thanks for the reply guys, will try to get a hold of one over the next few days to test it out, hopefully this fixes the issue and isn't something more serious!

Just a quick update on the situation : Finally got to a hardware store that sells these and managed to get one with the exact Voltage and Amp, and it works! Thanks so much everyone for the input, am so glad that it was a power adapter issue and not anything more serious! :D

@Jeffers Don't have an online link, but it's pretty much the 5v / 3A version of the adapter which is slightly uncommon, as the first store I went to only had the 2A versions available.

Streaming again, happy days.

Other than the one I purchased which as far as I could tell was a Minix original, even had the same logo on the plug and 3A.

As you found most others were 2A,

I did temporarily use a 4A one, which worked OK.

Was it a national UK/England hardware store?

No, I live in asia, and I'm pretty sure the one I bought is not a original adapter, the head of the plug is protruding upwards instead of downwards like the original. But hey, as long as it works I'm glad!
