@MINIX - John ..... good morning John .... I noticed that I was the only one you did not answer ..... I kindly asked the reason for the security patches stopped in August 2018 ... and why they would not be updated with every OTA update. ..thank you
As Skynet pointed out, I've already indirectly answered it in another post.
The intended consumer release firmware will be available via O.T.A Firmware Update at the same time as NEO U22-XJ's official release date.

I'm not going to answer any questions about the current firmware version and we're not going to provide any support for NEO U22-XJ until after the official release date, as I do not wish to encourage anyone to buy one before the official release date and nor do I want to condone any resellers who have begun selling NEO U22-XJ before the official release date next month.

Thanks "John"
Please answer my second question as well:
Can Portable HDD be directly connected to U22? Or do I need a USB hub with separate power supply?
(I want to know if portable HDD connects directly to U22, no problem for U22 USB ports?)
The external HDDs that we've tested so far draw power from the NEO U22-XJ's USB ports. They do not require separate power supply.

This is a legit Minix reseller but it clearly says pre-order so I fail to understand how you can receive a pre-order unit that has not been released yet, I'm not saying you are making this up but something does not add up?
The reseller has sold you the NEO U22-XJ ahead of its official release date on Monday 2nd March 2020.

The NEO U22-XJ you’ve received isn’t running the consumer release firmware that will be made available via O.T.A Firmware Update on Monday 2nd March 2020.

Unfortunately, you’ll either need to return the NEO U22-XJ or wait for the correct, release firmware to be made available on Monday 2nd March 2020.
i understand what you are saying to me not knowing when the minix u22 xj was out i just did a google search on the minix u22 xj went to the site that was showing the item i did see it was for pre-order and i did`nt know that they was going to send it out to me i thought i was going to have to wait for the the item being on the pre-order but i payed for it and they shipped it out to me and when i got it i came to find out that they sold me the item ahead of time and not with the firmware that it supposed so i got in-touch with minix and they told me to wait for the o.t.a firmware then they i will have the right firmware. but the box is running with no problems so far

Fedeczko is probably a reseller ??
and no i am not a resller

i understand to what you are saying but i did`nt know i thought they was release now next time i will do the research before i jump in to anything thx
It is really not your fault, as explained by Minix John this was an error on behalf of Minix USA so don't stress too much. The only unfortunate situation is that firstly you will have a sub standard firmware on there and secondly no one to help you out if you have any issues as no one has the box yet, well apart from you ;)

well, there's this:
https://www.cnx-software.com/2020/0...lby-vision-via-amlogic-s922x-j-processor/amp/
Also, the j in the S922X-J means the SoC has been licensed to do dolby vision & audio, but currently no software exists to playback dual-layer dolby vision (profile 7) that you get with uhd discs. would you guys be possibly working on such a media player to bundle with your new device? Since it's not an official Netflix-certified device and no DRM services are offered, what other way would there be to watch dolby vision if we can't playb our full disc backups? I'd hate for that fancy dolby vision license to be purely for marketing
Do the devices you link to have such software? Or have they got a fancy marketing dolby vision?! ;)

Just a word of warning, the official OTA update will more than likely wipe your system so I would be prepared for that if I was you.

Nope, just fancy marketing. Other than certified devices (Amazon Fire TV, Shield Pro, etc) running DRM services (Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ etc that all use dv profile 4&5), currently no software exists to make use of any paid dolby vision license on this new SoC. Just because the hardware can do it, and the license is paid, without proper software for dual-layer profile 7 playback, it's ultimately useless.

We’re aware of this eBay reseller, though we are currently unable to identify who it is.

We’ve tried contacting them but have so far received no response.

It’s certainly not a MINIX authorized reseller and we don’t advise purchasing from them.

It’s impossible this eBay reseller has 50+ genuine NEO U22-XJ units as so far we’ve only given each MINIX authorized reseller 1-5pcs for their own internal evaluation. No large quantity orders to resellers/distributors have been fulfilled yet.
I have no issues with waiting for the official release date.I much rather wiat a bit longer and have a smooth running box vs getting one early with issues.

I think the key is in hardware. Because the software problem resolves with the update or new software.

I`m playing my remuxes via LG tv with Xplay app for web os, for which i payed less than 10 euros ( HDR, DV). It works with plex media server. My problem is the sound, without atmos, dts-x, etc. I`ve seen they , also, have an app for android. So, imo, if there will be a device certified for DV for sure there will be some software solution.

It's early days, with all the brilliant minds out there in software development I have no doubt there will be a solution at some point.
