Keeping it relatively simple....

Android TV is primarily developed in the knowledge that the devices it's installed on will be static, & it's designed to be clean & light. It's also designed to function around a basic TV style remote alone. As such, the availability of typical apps (Play Store) & how you can interact with those apps is much more limited.

Pure Android by design obviously originated on mobile devices but what we see on our media hubs is a version developed to remove all of the unnecessary mobile features. It's also considerably more complex & versatile than ATV with a broader range of features. The pure Android media hubs typically have access to many of the same apps that are available on mobile devices too which opens up a huge range of possibilities in direct comparison to ATV. Obviously these media hubs don't have their own touchscreens but an airmouse/keyboard interface (or a traditional mouse/keyboard if you wish) still allows them to be a very powerful tool indeed :).

Well explained, thanks (y)

When buying a new TV is it a good idea to get an Android TV and use along with Minix u22 xj.

Ultimately, that's a choice that will come down to your final choice of your prospective new TV itself.

Don't choose a TV purely because it has the Android TV OS, especially if you plan on purchasing a U22-XJ anyway.

Obviously, not all modern TV's are created equally & some, for example, may have a better panel & features but its OS might be lacking compared to others which is what makes having an extra device such as a U9-H or a U22 an attractive option to augment some features the TV itself may be lacking. Others may have an excellent OS but the panel itself or specific features may also be lacking.

Purchasing a new 4K HDR TV isn't quite the minefield it was 2 or 3 years ago when you could end up purchasing a TV that claimed to do all sorts of wonderful things but lacked support for emerging standards that most decent TV's now include by default anyway. However, do your homework!!! Work up a list of TV's that generally fit your requirements & then start eliminating anything that definitely won't support features you require. Get down to a shortlist of 2 or 3 & then really get down into the nitty gritty of which TV is the best for you subjectively. If it's not at least giving you a minor headache in comparing the available options, you're not putting the effort in lol ;)!!

Happy hunting ;).

I purchased a Sony 65" android tv two years ago. I found it extremely limited compared to a non android tv. No google search engine....just Sony. Play store, did not function. The way around it was to to sideload a different launcher, but this still has limitations. So, I use my u9h for everything that I cannot achieve on my tv. However, I have to admit that the Sony has excellent menus and features and a brilliant picture. Good luck with your choice.

In a word: no!
You can travel by truck, but the truck is built for cargo, not travel.
Likewise, the TV is made for "image display".
Speed, Ease of operation, Flexibility, Supports multi-channel audio types, HDMI output, Using multiple hard drives together, Portability...
You don't get any of this with TV, because TV is not made for them. To get these benefits, you need to use the Android box.

LOL, bit of an odd one that, if the truck wasn't built for travel then the cargo doesn't go anywhere at all either ;)!! Then you just have a static truck, & cargo ;). (Who knew logistics could be an area of such deep philosophy lol ;):ROFLMAO:.). I digress ;)......

.....However, I think the point you're trying to make is that "everything is a trade off" with inevitable pros & cons whichever way you go :).

Imagine ArcticWolf and Hal Berry going on a honeymoon by truck ! ?

A honeymoon implies marriage!! (I said a weekend man, not a bloody lifetime heh ;). Although, I suppose there are worse ways to go lol.) It would be a bit of a short endeavour as "this very popular truck" drove straight into the sea on its way to Tahiti & I can't really say I'm a fan of drowning ;)!!

Otherwise, that's really something you want to leave to my imagination & mine alone rather than that of others pmsl ;).

Good to hear since it's not officially released yet;)
You must of seen this !

Yes I've seen it. I think Minix.us is authorized enough but I don't want to preorder from them end up paying 400$ for a 170$ box. That's why I was hoping for a legit Canadian eStore to preorder from.

While I was there, I was quite surprised to see the X39 available to the general public. I thought this model never made it to home use.

Regarding the X39
People will sell you what ever your willing to buy.... people need to educate them-self and not rely on what sales people tell them!

I'm not saying you are one of those people!

Here is MINIX's satement regarding the X39
