You dont need custom firmware as U9h will passthrough ATMOS, HD audio etc in Kodi just fine.
See here for config options >> https://kodi.wiki/view/Audio_quickstart_guide

If other apps are crashing it may be best to factory reset and install the lastest official firmware ( you will of course lose all installed apps and settings)

this is my KODI version and Android version .. is this good to handle ATMOS , TRUEHD ,DTS-X ?

i dont understand your question, which update are you referring to ?

Yes, but by now you should probably move to Kodi 19
android version is 7.1.2 .. should i download CoreELEC? is that mandatory to have HD audio passthrough ? or just fine with 7.1.2 version ?
KODI 19 link please ?? some may be modded so im bit conscious .. should i install KODI 19 to same android version ?

My AVR has Dolby ATMOS and DTS-X Capable ... AVR - Denon x1500h ..

Should i try with VLC player ?

I recommend you install stock firmware 008 >> https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/official-neo-u9-h-008fw.43/
I always install Kodi from from its official source (32 bit version) >> https://kodi.tv/download/android

CoreElec is good but the U9H/FW008/ Kodi 18/9 will passthrough HD audio (Dolby/DTS-HD/DTS-X etc) no problem so I dont see any need for CoreElec on the U9H

But i have version 7.1.2 already as updated ... should i do flash to 008 ? it seems to downgrade the version or update ? i think 008 stock makes version with 6 .. so no problems with passthrough ? and should i instal KODI from playstore or downloading .apk from kodi site and den transfer to minix >?

Yes , thats my recommndation, 7.1.2 was/is to buggy for me

I dont use the playstore on my boxes and always sideload apps so thats my recommendation, but i guess playstore should be OK, your choice.

I prefer to sideload to avoid any unwanted playstore updates;)

Thanks a lot.. will follow all ur suggestion tmw ..
So ur sure of passthrough to avr with this right? Just a curious question don mind :)
- DOLBY ATMOS
- DOLBY TRUEHD
- DTS-HD MA
- DTS-X
-E-AC3 - DD+
- AAC 5.1
- PCM 5.1
SMOOTH 4K H.265 playback . These are my expectations... let's see .. thanks for guidance and info ..

With the same 008 version u9-h, can u stream well on OTT apps too ? NETFLIX (2k) , Amazon prime (1080p) ? Some posts says streaming may be tricky . Is it so ?

LOL, this user has also been PM'ing me some of the same questions. It probably would have just been easier to ask everything here to begin with  ;).

FYI @Silent_PRO , The U9-H isn't Netflix certified, so the actual Netflix app will only ever be SD quality at best. Having said that, some users have had success with the official Netflix Kodi add-on with regards to 1080p content, however, others have experienced various issues with the add-on too which made it unfeasible. (For example, I could indeed receive some content in 1080p approx 18 months ago while testing with the official Netflix Kodi add-on, but the choice of available movies & TV shows available to me was drastically reduced compared to the main 4K Netflix app & account native to my Panny TV or a 4K Sky Q box (UK 4K capable satellite TV).)

The same pretty much applies to Prime Video as Netflix.

All other relevant questions already answered via PM.

FW008 should certainly resolve your problems with HD audio, (as previously discussed). As with @pusb87, my AVR also works fine with the U9-H & HD audio with Kodi. What's more, the vast majority of my 4K & 4K HDR library also played back absolutely fine in Kodi 17 & 18 with just a small handful of files experiencing a problem. Invariably, the problem was my files themselves rather than the device or firmware being an issue.

Let us know if everything is working OK with HD audio & FW008 :)!!!!???

As also discussed, I've never actually tested Kodi with my U9-H's either. I've only used Kodi 19 with CoreELEC on a MINIX Neo T5 or the U22 due to the known limitations of the official firmware for both devices. Or I've used Kodi 19 via MINIX Windows systems, the HD audio works well there too but as yet there hasn't been an official release of an Intel based device that supports HDR as well as HD audio. (Hopefully that's something to look forward to in the future :).)

Obviously, if you use Kodi very heavily & rarely use any other Android apps anyway and/or the official Kodi add-ons are also acceptable for your use, you could also consider keeping Android exactly as it is now, & run a CoreELEC dual boot with your U9-H. Worth considering if you really only use Kodi.

P.S. I always installed Kodi from the Play Store on the U9-H. I side-loaded an alpha or beta for testing purposes a couple of times. The Play Store installations are the same as the official Kodi website so if you're logged into Google anyway, just use the Play Store installation ;). (You can turn off auto updates for Kodi specifically via the Play Store if you wish, but it was never an issue for me.)

Enjoy :).

Can you do that now... i thought it was all or nothing ??

You can batch set all or nothing from the main settings, but you can also set individual apps not to update with the rest individually from each actual app page in the Play Store. Controlling individual apps from updating via the Play Store has been functional for as long as I can remember mate, (i.e. years :) )!!! Just don't ask me how long for something that routine with my bloody awful memory ;)!!

But, if you do a search for " play store turning off individual app updates "....

I immediately found a guide from 2016/2017.
Was it ever a known problem affecting a/specific to a Neo U9-H at some point??? (That I couldn't answer!! Was it???) (I didn't use the feature anywhere near as regularly on a U9-H as I have on my Android phones/tablets, for example. As far as I can recall it's worked since at least 2017 on all of my Android Samsung Galaxy S5/S7/S10 phones, or Galaxy Tab S3 & Tab A6 2016, possibly longer.

I can remember enabling it on a U9-H to delay Kodi from updating from 17.6 to 18 when 18 was released until I was 100% happy everything would be transferred over in the update seamlessly etc. (if that gives you a rough idea of when it was definitely working on a U9-H if you previously had any difficulty with it????)

Admittedly, I haven't checked if enabling/disabling individual auto-updates works on a U22 either, (you know why I can't really use Android much there ;). As far as I can recall it does work on the T5 ATV OS as well though.

Is that what's been stopping you from using the Play Store all this time ;)???

@pusb87

make sure you read this thread and follow guide carefully >> https://theminixforum.com/index.php...-for-neo-u9-h-with-the-burning-tool.29/page-2

you could try burn card method > https://theminixforum.com/index.php...re-update-with-burn-card-maker.234/#post-1149

apply the same principle with the U9 method of powering on / recovery menu
