Minix Support U22

I wrote to Minix support to inform them that I'm very disappointed with my NEO U22-XJ. The main reason why I bought this model was that I could get HD audio. Nevertheless, HD audio has never worked in this device by default. I've patiently waited for a year for a firmware upgrade that could solve the problem, but I'm fed up of promises that never are implemented. After several hours studying how to get HD audio work I tried Coreelec with good results, but from one day to the next the screen went green and magenta and I couldn't manage to run fine again, besides I've lost a bunch of hours looking for a solution.

For this reason I begged Minix to return my device in order to get a refund, because the sound of the device doesn't work as they advertised, and I haven't get a response. I think Minix cheated his clients, I'm really frustrated.

Hello ,the best thing to do is replace Android with coreelec ,instal coreelec inside and not on a sd card...

For me it happens after using the U22 with android and playing a HDR file. The GUI gets stuck in HDR mode, and also 24Hz mode if i had frame switching enabled.

Even after power down it seems to remain in this state if you then run Corelec.
The solution is to "correct" all the dispaly settings after rebooting into android, then power off , and then install/run Coreelec, after that mine behaves as expected only switching to HDR mode ( and back) when playing a HDR video file.

Poor advice in my view.
CoreElec runs absolutely fine from an SD card, no need to install to internal and lose Android.
Its dead easy to add an option in CoreElec to reboot to android as and when required.

I have test with sd card but its clearly not the Same as an internal instal ,i have abandon coreelec on sd card ,its to "low" , impossible to configure like you want ,skin, options... clearly not the Same expérience ...
Take a look and juge yourself !!

Hi Ralf.

Did you try using CoreElec with a faster SD CARD?

Or even with one fast SD CARD you prefer internal Installation?

Note:
I have to say that i don't use CoreElec.

Although you are only trying to help here @notrui what you need to understand here is that what the majority of people are saying is they do not want any fixes or work arounds which is perfectly understandable, Minix should have had the U22 firing on all cylinders by now, the fact that it is not after all this time (official release date 02.03.2020 announced here) is very disappointing for a lot of folks, myself included.

And the u22xj max is on the way to replace the not finished u22xj ?
So WE have a not finished u22xj and become a half finished u22xj max ...?????

In my opinion Minix will abandon android box and will only minix with windows or linux system.

I have no problems with skins, performance or anything else with CoreElec on the SD card.
There is nothing in your video ( which I have seen before) that demonstrates that you need to use internal install.
BTW I think your video shows that you have HDR mode on by default. ??

You may have been victim of using an SD card that is not up to the job, even more so for USB drive installs.

But really for many users that want to try CoreElec because of the failings of the Android firmware then installation to an SD card is the safer and easier option with little or no drawbacks.

Wouldn't it be wise to let all u22 owners know? Explain the failure of this box? Explain why 170 euros were badly spent? Why did the much-loved Minix with the top box flop? Why did Minix lose the challenge with Ugoos am6 plus or others? This is what the owners would like to know ....
 
NEO U22-XJ currently supports passthrough Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound but not being able to passthrough Dolby True-HD and DTS-HD.
That's because the chip factory did not complete it. Therefore, we are looking for other solutions. As far as I know, other devices that use this chip have the same problem.
