Minix T5 + Minix A3 - Enter key registers as "q" letter - How to remap?

Hi All,

I recently bought both the Minix T5 and the Minix A3 (not the backlit).
I noticed that when I enter text by typing (for example in the search field) then both the back keyboard enter key and both the remote main central OK button reigster a "q" letter instead of performing the Enter action.

I looked into remapping these keys, but the T5 is not a rooted device (For example I have tried change the definition of the key in the keyboard layout file, but since the device is not rooted, I don't have permissions to change the file).

Any solution?

Cheers,

Sky

You may notice that the q is highlighted on the virtual keyboard when typing with the physical keyboard and that is why when you hit ok on the remote it types a q. Try moving the highlighted key to enter on the virtual keyboard with the dpad then use the physical keyboard and it should respond as an enter command.

Hi

The highlighted "q" is on the virtual keyboard on the screen. When the wireless physical keyboard takes over, then it should be independent of that. The box has a keyboard layout file for external device and indeed the enter key is not defined as an enter command, unfortanetly. People suggested to edit that file, but that works only with rooted devices, which Minix T5 is not.

So the solution above does not work.

Any other ideas? Or maybe any idea to how to edit a root keyboard file on Minix t5?
Any other Minix T5 users out there that have the same problem?

Thanks in advance,

Sky

Your right. The problem lies in the fact that the key code for the dpad center button and the enter button on the back of the remote are the same. You can't change one without changing the other.

If you (or minix in a future update) update the kl file to reflect an enter key press instead of a dpad_center key press, apps that are not coded properly will not accept it. The leanback keyboard for example would stop working.

Updating the kl file will fix one problem, but cause others. There is no right answer without a new remote.

Thank you MooseJaw,

Is there another remote you recommend then that also have a keyboard and works well with the Minix T5 and does not have that problem?
