Minix U22-XJ HDMI

Hello! I want to ask if the cable that Minix U22-XJ comes in the package is HDMI 2.0 or 2.1! Thx!!!

If you look at the text printed upon the cable it actually tells you what specification they are, ("high speed") ;).

I haven't tested one for a while as I have to use cables with right angled HDMI connectors to fit behind my AVR, but the included cables have handled 4K@60, 3D, deep colour & ARC for me without any problems.

An "ultra high speed" (48G) cable would ultimately be completely unnecessary as the device itself doesn't support that standard.

Enjoy :).

Would using a ultra high speed cable take care of the problems most people have with the U22?. I have to unplug the HDMI cable from the box just to get my TV to work again. It's been absolutely a HUGE disappointment. Now after saying that the U22 works just fine on my older Sharp but not on my newer LG. My U9 works perfect so the U22 has hardly been used because the Sharp is in a bedroom and we don't watch it. I am planning on upgrading my TV this year but the U22 has basically been collecting dust. Just FYI it is running the latest firmware and that didn't help

No, it's a firmware issue, not the cable.

There are some outstanding HDMI/CEC/ARC issues that still hadn't been addressed as of the public FW006A release. Some devices aren't affected by these issues while others suffer various problems that can affect HDMI functions in different ways.

All we can continue to do is wait I'm afraid, & hope that the next firmware update is the one that finally includes this specific fix.

As Articwolf stated with all the HDMI/ARC/CEC issues that have been there since Day 1 have not been addressed It seems they are more concerned with fixes that only help a select few. I love my U9 but could never recommend a U22 until these issues are fixed My U22 is basically a paperweight and don't use.Paid alot for something I can't use. Wanna buy it?

My friend! I was wonderinh how one might do that. I have had others talk about this and wondered why they would install on Minix box and what benefits it would have. Thanks

There's a very simple & easy to follow tutorial for the U22 & CoreELEC here... https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/tutorial-coreelec-on-the-u22.3368/

Bear in mind that CoreELEC is specifically designed to only run Kodi (& add-ons). Obviously, this is extremely good for Kodi as minimal resources are used without Android & other background processes also running which makes Kodi's interface/functions quicker & more responsive in general, (even when using more complex skins or additional scripts etc., & even if it's running off an external Micro SD/USB flash).

The downside is fairly obvious but as long as you're running CoreELEC from an external source such as a micro SD it's a "dual boot" system so you can easily boot back & forth between Android, & CoreELEC at any time you wish in a few seconds.

If you so choose you can also install CoreELEC directly to the eMMC either by replacing Android completely in the process or also as a dual boot system with both, (but running both from the eMMC comes with certain limitations or issues that you may need to workaround).

Running CoreELEC off an external source is generally the preferred option so users can still access Android too & it's still more than zippy enough for the majority. I'd also suggest that you stick to a dual boot system off a source like a micro SD initially at least until you've spent some time evaluating CoreELEC before deciding whether to look at the other installation options, but that pretty much sums up the basic options for you ;).

Enjoy ;).

Thanks. I thought so. I don't mind Kodi but that rea;;y limits the features the U22 has. Kodi is OK but hardly ever use it. At one time years ago I used Kodi all the time but like the APKs I use now. Not sure if I wanted to only go Kodi only
