Minix u22xj avaible ????

Hello ,how it is possible that the minix u22xj is avaible on eBay ? The u22xj is officiel not out ,impossible to find on minix store ....so how this is possible ?????
We’re aware of this eBay reseller, though we are currently unable to identify who it is.

We’ve tried contacting them but have so far received no response.

It’s certainly not a MINIX authorized reseller and we don’t advise purchasing from them.

It’s impossible this eBay reseller has 50+ genuine NEO U22-XJ units as so far we’ve only given each MINIX authorized reseller 1-5pcs for their own internal evaluation. No large quantity orders to resellers/distributors have been fulfilled yet.

Got a reply. Forwarded it to John@minix.
This guy on Ebay claims it is a genuine product.
But I will wait for official stores.

The box maybe legit but I'm certain it will have pre-release firmeware which will not be suitable for the general public.
Yes, this is correct.

All NEO U22-XJ units are not currently running the consumer release firmware.

The consumer release firmware will be made available via O.T.A Firmware Update on Monday 2nd March 2020.

We advise against purchasing any NEO U22-XJ before the official release date on Monday 2nd March 2020.

Please allow me to add an extra remark.

When you buy an unfinnished product you can't tell what part was unfinnished. Was it software, was it hardware?
There must surelly be a reason why the product is still not being officially sold.

You might believe it is something related to software, and that in future updates your machine will be just like any other, yet you should keep it mind that it might well be something slightly worse. If the reason is hardware, no matter what updates you throw in, your machine will never be like the ones approved for releasing.

Keep in mind that the products being already sold in unofficial shops, if they were not subtracted from the production line, they were probably supplied for evaluation to someone that was aware, opposite to your final consumer convictions, that they were getting hold of a product that is very likely to be far from what should be expected by you.

These, lets call them testers, don't intend to keep the produtct as you do, because they will get the final version for sure, in time.

So, please follow the advicing given so far, and be patient. The wainting is for our own good.
Very well put. It should be obvious to any customers that purchasing anything before an official release date is not a good idea. An official release date is given for a reason.

Have you checked the resellers warranty policy? Are we supposed to fulfill the warranty for units that are not intended for customers, that we tell customers not to buy at the moment and are purchased before the product has officially gone on sale?:rolleyes::unsure::rolleyes::unsure:

Sorry to bring this up again...
Sadly I got to this forum after i had already bought a MINIX NEO U22-XJ TV BOX on Aliexpress.com from a store called MINIX Official Store.
The purchace was around the 23rd of Feb 2020. I confronted the seller with the information I found here, but the still clain to be a MINIX official store.
Not much to be done now ... however i was wondering what the chances are that I hve now a product that is hardware-wise 100% finished and only needs a most recent firmware update to be the official RTM - product. Also will an unofficial device automatically detect that it does not have the (fiirst release) firmware and update itself?
