Hi all I am new to this forum and also new to using Minix box U9-H, nice to meet everyone. My problem is I would like to get Netflix put on my box but I can only seem to find the SD version instead of the HD version. Could someone point me in the right direction with this please? Thanks everyone ?

Welcome to the forum!:)

Unfortunately MINIX is not Netflix certified so we cannot receive all the features that we pay for..... full HD is one of them!
This of course is no fault of MINIX, Netflix only wants to certify the big dogs!

This is the version that I'm using on my U9, it's decent!

The Netflix Kodi addon is another option you could try.... I haven't used it in sometime so I can't guarantee it's still working but it's worth a try..

Just a quick follow up question, is there anyway to get Netflix HD on kodi as an Addon? Any help with this will be much appreciated thanks ?

Hi, I have Minix U9-h with firmware FW008. I was using Netflix 5.3.1 earlier, but these days the app refuses to accept genuine login credentials. I have seen other users in the forum being able to install 6.26.1 build 15 31696 and run it successfully in FW008. I haven't any such luck. I had uninstalled all previous versions of Netflix and had Netflix 6.26.1 installed but I have had difficulty in opening it. I have attached the error screenshots. I've tried the below steps

* Installed the application, when app opens, throws up error (1)
* Forced closed the app, cleared app data and cache in settings
* Tried opening opening the app, throws up error (2)
* Rebooted the Minix device, tried opening Netflix, throws up error (3)
* Went to recovery mode, and formatted the cache drive, Netflix will not open, throwing up error (1)
* Disabled google play services and force closed google play store, and yet cannot open Netflix app.

Frustrating stuff this is, I had wasted hours on this. I ended up installing Netflix version 4.16.1 which appear to open and login with no issues. I would have preferred the more higher version of Netflix which would have more features and improved resolution. I was hoping if someone could advice how I can successfully install, open and login into Netflix 6.26.1 with the current firmware version. I'm not going to upgrade into Nougat version as I see users have reported multiple issues on it.

The alternative is to install Netflix through castagnait repository in Kodi. The interface is not the same as I would expect from the app.

That's strange that you are having problems with this version. I've been using this version on all my MINIX devices, it installs fine and plays well. The only issue, which isn't an issue for me is that you need to use a remote with an airmouse.

You seem to have done all things that I would suggest to you to try in resolving this problem. Factory reset is an option but I wouldn't try that yet!

I understand you've spend a lot of time with this, and yes frustrating!:(

When you have time I would uninstall the current version, clear your cache again.
Install 6.26.1 and before you try opening it go into apps., find Netflix, clear the cache and Data for it.
Reboot the box, open Netflix and see what happens... fingers crossed!

In the meantime, I'll uninstall mine, reinstall it and see if I get any errors

Hi Midnight, followed your steps as advised. Resulted in error (1).

I've tried USB debugging to get the log files through adb logcat. Unfortunately, I cannot see the device listed when I start adb. The device shows up as portable device with no logical mount point. I tried using MTP usb option for file transfer, the result is the same. I see that in recovery mode there's an option to mount device. However, I did not want to test that, rather check with you experts and advise me accordingly.

* Do you see any value in getting log files through adb for this issue or do I try something else.
* If yes for the value, can you advise the proper way to get the log files as I'm unable to list the device in adb.

I followed the adb instructions in the below link

Thanks again for all the assistance

I really don't see the point in the log files, TBH I've never used them before.

I'm puzzled as to why you are having issue's installing this:unsure:

I uninstalled my version, reinstalled it again and actually got a 5.10 error.
All I did was reboot the box, went back into Netflix and it worked.

I'm sure it won't make a difference but I always down load the apk on my PC then transfer it to a flash drive then install them on my devices.

Factory reset of your device is an option but if you continue having issue's, I'd try contacting Netflix directly and explain the issue first....I've done it before!
After all, they are the ones to blame why we have problems installing something that we pay for!

I'm sorry that you're having issue's but it should work! We use Netflix daily and I flip back and forth between MINIX devices and they all work!

Yeah, I thought the log files may not be required.

Thanks for your advice, I did a factory reset and was able to install and open successfully Netflix ver 6.26.1. I really don't know why it did not work the first time around.
Took some time to install the other apps I had earlier, but the main issue is resolved. So many thanks again for your advice.

Indeed it's puzzling why it wouldn't install initially.

The main thing is, you got it sorted out !(y)

Dalvik cache.....Unfortunately the only way to clear the Dalvik cache is to use a custom recovery.

To quote from this post:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7541281/what-is-dalvik-and-dalvik-cache

"When you install an application on Android, it performs some modifications and optimizations on that application's dex file (the file that contains all the dalvik bytecode for the application). It then caches the resulting odex (optimized dex) file in the /data/dalvik-cache directory, so that it doesn't have to perform the optimization process every time it loads an application."

I've never had any such issue's installing Netflix, that's why I was puzzled....guess I've been lucky.;)

Is there a way to install Netflix on our phones and send to the Minix like a Chromecast might operate? In fact any sort of phone app to Minix cast would be good.

I had the same problem. It was working with the 5.3.1 apk on FW008, then I changed my account (with a new one, different credentials) and could no longer log in. I tried to uninstall the app, clean the cache, restart the device but nothing worked. I installed the 6.26.1 version, it didn't work (500.-99 error). Only the 4.16.1 version worked.
As last try, I did a factory reset and then I installed the 6.26.1 version again, now it works.
