I have recently encountered the same issue. My Minix U9-H starts and I see the Minix logo, green android bot and HDMI in the bottom right corner but after a few seconds, although the blue light remains lit, my 55 inch LG 4K TV says No Signal. This Minix box has been working with the original firmware for several years apart from the odd times when it froze and the power cable has to be disconnected. I cannot update it's firmware as I only have access to a Chromebook and a Windows 10 S laptop. Is it really just some sort of display issue?
A Win 10 laptop with USB ports will work just fine

!! Before you go there, however...
First.... Try connecting the U9-H to another display/monitor. (Any change? If the signal returns simply double check that the display resolution is set to auto & reconnect the device to the original display.)
The next thing you could try for this problem is read my post #4 here...

It may be that your system is actually booting successfully but it's just the display signal that isn't coming through. Try following the methods listed in the above post, if you can hear the system sounds as you attempt to navigate blindly to reset the display resolution you'll at least know that for certain. If you hear nothing & it still doesn't help, next try this....

Follow the instructions in my post above in conjunction with re-flashing the firmware for a U9-H using the USB burning tool here...
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...ctions-for-neo-u9-h-with-the-burning-tool.29/
All being well, once re-flashed you'll hopefully have immediate access to your U9-H again with all of your user settings, files & data fully intact.
Otherwise, this issue can & does seem to happen to a small handful of U9-H's apparently when used with a specific TV or hardware such as an AVR, & if Kodi also has active control over auto framerate switching. (At least, that's the most likely culprit I could determine after dealing with one of the multiple U9-H's I have access to repeatedly doing exactly what yours has well over 15 times in a very short period of time.) For some reason this essentially causes the device to nullify the appropriate resolution on boot which causes this apparent "freeze at the black screen" immediately after the initial MINIX splash screen has displayed. Some users are able to simply connect to another display & voila, some have been able to work out the system was in fact running a navigated through the system settings by memory to reset the resolution, while others such as myself have had to repeatedly re-flash the device if this happens. (Eventually I swapped a couple of my U9-H's around & it hasn't happened again since, so it was just that one device which is just insanely odd as it functions 100% normally in every other possible way.)
Fingers crossed you'll only need one of the simpler fixes but they're all there for you to try.
Let us know if you're still having difficulty after trying the above
