Hi , is there a list of what was changed?
@Skynet this means, that it's still adviced to use XBMC for MINIX v16.3 instead of original Kodi 17.6 or upcoming v18.x Leia on Minix U1?

You can keep Minix V16.3 with updated video scrappers.
Kodi 17.6 is recommended for U9-H and for the new NEO X39

I would say Kodi 17.6 is the best option for the U1...flawless for me , no issues with scrapers.....

Yes you can have both MINIX XBMC and Kodi installed.
But making a backup means you have the option to import it to a different fork of Kodi!

Minix Neo X8H+ user here with XBMC16.3 as at the top of the thread. Am I best sticking with this on the Minix, or downloading SPMC17.6?
I have another box running Kodi17 that I've painstakingly set up with a dozen repos, so was just going to copy settings from that.
I don't think Kodi 17 settings will copy over to Kodi 16 will they?

Kodi17 requires Android 5
XBMC 16.3 won't resolve the latest generation https streams and the repos you mentioned would likely be broken. Besides, should you use subtitles there was a security flaw that was only corrected from Kodi17.2 based versions.
Anything copied from Kodi17 to Kodi16 won't correct any of the above. XBMC 16.3 is the perfect reader for Minix Amlogic boxes, as Kodi17 dropped the Amlogic processors accelerating processes.
For Android 4 the best options will be:
XBMC 16.3 to watch your own media.
SPMC 17.6 to access external (not recommended) add-ons.

OK yes, the object of the exercise was getting Lollipop on the box so it is at Android 5, which does still feature MiniXBMC 16.3
SPMC is no longer supported and I can't find a 17.6 version of it (it says there is a beta version of it but the link doesn't work).
Is there another fork that might work?

you dont need a kodi fork if running android 5 on the x8h+
if you want a fork look at wbmc
