Mount a network drive without root

I would really love it if this feature could become available, either as a patch or as an app.

I hate the idea of going through the risky process of rooting my X7 or U1 (I have both) just to do this simple task.

Any possibility of this happening?

Or has it happened without me noticing? ;o)

Can you explain exactly what do you want to do, from what to what, etc ... ?

I have a synology NAS connected to my router. From windows there's no problem mounting it as a drive and keeping it mounted. From android however, I can only access it via network-aware apps like es explorer, kodi, neutron, etc. I'd like to attach the drive like usb drives are attached, but without rooting my device. Everything I've seen requires it.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by keeping it mounted?
When you use a network aware app then surely it is there for you to access!
It is the same for USB drives.

Arre you aware of the suite of Synology apps?
For example...

Yes, for sure - apps like kodi and ES Explorer have no problems with NAS connections. It's the apps that are not network aware. If the NAS was available as an external drive, any app could access it. So keeping it mounted means when I reboot, the NAS would be available, in the same way as a USB drive would be available. I never saw anything like that from synology...

For a bit more clarity, in Linux, I would make an entry in fstab and mount the drive, and from that point on, it would be mounted a boot time. But root access is needed.
