Movies accelerate and freezing

Depends on the file format/encoding/compression of the movie files themselves really. If they're all (or mostly) just low quality SD XviD/DivX rips (for example) you could potentially fit a relatively large library of 5000+ movies onto a single external 4TB drive or NAS.

Obviously, what could come into play as a library grows larger based on individual settings/options is Kodi's locally stored user data, .db files, thumbnails and/or optional extra thumbnails, add-on data, etc. etc. etc. All stored on the U1's internal storage. Or, is that what you were actually referring to in the first place :)?
YES, not the media files themselves but the storage space on the U1 that is involved in managing the library

Well, as you see in my screenshot, there's plenty of resource
no, the screenshot simply shows your available storage space. With such a large library there will need to be quite a bit of "processing" resource to manage the library data

Hi ArcticWolf, curious at MySQL and the database on NAS i found your first link "firstadekit" yesterday myself ;-)
installed everything as descibed and it worked, only i wasn't able to get any movieposter previews, when scrolling
trough the movies. Now i had to many sources in the movie index and didn't know how to undo...... So i've chosen the easy'st way, formatted the MiniX to factory settings and started all over again :) :)

For now its ready, i installed a little less then before, everything is still working fine, will only try the Kodi backup
addon as you descibed above. Maybe when i have a bad hair day, i'll try the second link.

thanx you all for helping me out

another thought is maybe you have either update library on startup enabled, or when you do a manual update , because it is so large that it consumes resources ??

Yes indeed i do, i will stop automatic updating the library at starting Kodi, updating
always takes a long time.... and i think you are absolutely right that it consumes a lot
