Much Easier Reset Button!

I am sure I am not the first to think of and do this and it likely applies just as well to other boxes. But it just came to me as I - once again - was fiddling with trying to get an unbent paper clip into the reset button hole in the dark...

I took a typical thumb tack, snipped off the sharp point so that the remaining straight portion was maybe 1/4" long, then placed it into the reset button hole, and covered it (not too tightly but securely) with a length of black electrician's tape.

This works great. So easy. And you can do it with your eyes closed - just by feel.

Total cost and effort - maybe $0.02 and 4 minutes.

I use the Sim card ejector tool that comes with every new phone.

Shame Minix moved away from the hold the power button down for 10+ seconds on power up method to get to the recovery menu we had on the U1 for example, so much easier.

Anyway, hopefully we'll eventually get the root switch back so we can use one of the advanced power apps to easily reboot into recovery that way.

I can certainly live much better with this new improvement. No idea why I have gone so long, through so many TV boxes and other devices, without thinking of this before.

My U22 came with 004 firmware and I have not yet even thought of updating. Since I still have a working root switch, I presume this happened after 004?

Root switch was removed in OTA updated FW005 but there is a rooted version available for manual install.

Root switch will be back with FW006.

Thanks for clarifying. I am glad to have dodged that bullet! Without root I would be completely sunk
