NEO A3: Re-Pairing Remote and USB Receiver

Cleared the cache for the Google app/assistant, uninstalled all updates & then let it auto update itself again.

Also cleared the cache for the Android Accessibility Suite (formally Talkback) & did the same thing. (I don't use it but it updated together with the Google app.)

The a3, apps & system have all been stable since & functioning normally again. Phew :)!! I was dreading a full factory reset & starting again, it's taken me countless hours to get everything perfected lol.

Obviously something got messed up during these updates the first time that exhibited all of this seriously odd behaviour. It wouldn't let my a3 sleep at all. Fingers crossed all is finally good again.

Right, Ok, I have an 8Gb SD card that I'm going to install the latest beta of LibreElec Kodi on. I'd prefer a 16Gb but I think 8Gb should do for Kodi.

I've downloaded these firmwares:

U9H_Android_6.0_FW007A_20171020
U9H_Android_6.0_FW008_20180209
U9H_Android_7.1_FW001_20180814

Any that I'm missing?

I'm going to install LibreElec Kodi on the SD card, setup dual booting and then uninstall Kodi from Android 7.1.2 and see if the issue with the A3 remains.

If it does, then I'm going to flash the firmware to U9H_Android_6.0_FW008_20180209, which I think is the same as the one that ArcticWolf is using.

Edit: Not going to use the latest Betas, but rather: https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/5274-index-libreelec-community-builds-for-amlogic/

Hopefully an 8GB card will be sufficient for the purposes of testing. Yes, that's the FW for my U9.

Good luck :).

Hmmmm. Ok. So I got it working. Mostly but not quite perfectly.

I used this page: https://androidpctv.com/tutorial-libreelec-install-guide-tv-box-android/

I d/l'ed the *.img.gz file from here: https://kszaq.libreelec.tv/s912/8.2/8.2.2.3/

Then the gxm_q200_2g_minix_neo_u9.dtb file from https://kszaq.libreelec.tv/s912/8.2/device_trees/1Gbit_Ethernet/

I'm going to try this one tomorrow night: https://kszaq.libreelec.tv/s912/

I got Kodi to boot. DTS 4K movies don't playback and the A3 remote went to sleep.

Kodi was slower running from the SD card than from the U9-H device.

Any idea when the next update is for 7.1.2?

I know you started here with the issue of re-pairing/calibrating the A3, but I can't help but notice you're getting a little off topic!

Well, if you read the whole thread, you'll also notice that we're trading information to find a way to make the A3 mouse to be stable and not go to sleep so that we can avoid having to re-pair it over and over. My current theory is that the A3 mouse "dies" when Kodi is being used.

ArcticWolf has been the most helpful.

* Hint *.

Apologies, that wasn't the intention :).

Is your a3 now correctly paired or have you given up bud? If your problems are persisting there is the possibility that your a3 or the dongle have become defective :(!!

Just a few weeks after I purchased my U9-H & a3 combo my original a3 started to exhibit all sorts of very odd behaviour. It paired just fine but the keyboard became completely jumbled up & many of the characters were in the incorrect positions to where they were supposed to be. When I pressed keys as well, (especially if using shift), the a3 was constantly duplicating all inputs too. It had other problems on top of those but all of this was 8 - 9+ months ago & I can't remember a lot of it now. Everything regarding that was over on the original forum which has sadly been lost as some of the issues addressed there may have been useful to you as well.

@Skynet & Minix staff were very helpful, that much I can remember. They had me go through several steps for troubleshooting the problems but nothing worked & they quickly declared the a3 as defective. They sent out a replacement & everything has been fine since other then these weird problems I keep experiencing based around the Google App/Assistant that have come & gone with updates.

I'm actually now considering purchasing an a2 Lite remote. My issues have consistently been based around the Mic status &/or the mic status LED not allowing the remote to sleep. An a2 Lite is more or less identical to an a3 but no mic/voice control. If I remove that function entirely, hopefully problem solved :)!!! (The new X39 is hopefully just around the corner too which I also plan on buying, I can always try my current a3 with the X39 ;).)

Hope you're making some headway with the problems!!

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a replacement USB dongle for A3 remote. I seem to have lost it.
Do I need to buy an original dongle or can I buy a third party one?

Many thanks in advance

Follow below instructions to re-pair NEO A3 and USB receiver:

1. Remove both batteries, then reinsert.

2. Press Fn + P on the keyboard.

3. Caps LK & Fn LEDs will glow.

4. Plug the receiver into a USB port on your MINIX Media Hub for Android.

5. LEDs will flash three times when successfully paired.

For info John left Minix a while ago. Ref the dongle, a quick search gives conflicting info:

Dongle is paired at manufacture:

Dongle can be paired to any Minix remote:

I would suggest you contact Minix support direct: support@minix.com.hk
