You will be able to reinstall the same edition of Windows the PC came with and it will work without asking you for a key. It is stored in UEFI, not meant to be (easily) seen.

Regarding the need to trace the key I would mention that I recall having found in the past that the key we retrieve from the machines is not, most of the times, the same that could be found in the stamps. This was caused because that OEM license (SLP - System Locked Pre-installation) was normally the one to bulk install the new system in the new machines at the manufacturer. Those keys were permanently blocked from online activation. If you would clean install Windows and try to use that key it would fail activation, that is why you would need to use the key in the stamp. Unless something changed, tracing the Windows key inside the machine, although being a nice looking move, is very likely close to pointless. :cautious:

I'm using the latest 7zip to unzip the file for latest version of windows 1809 and with drivers file but I keep getting "unexpected end of data " error on both. I've tried earlier versions of 7 zip and winzip to no avail. anybody else getting this problem?

Hello.
Where are you saving the data ? Flash drive?

If you have enough disk space and the device is good you must be able to download, unzip to a device.

I use 7Zip, works fine :).

Try redownloading the 1809 image.

I would suggest attaching a screenshot of the error you ran into.
