Neo T5 vs Neo U22-XJ

Hi,
It's time for me to upgrade my old faithful U9-H, I think it just died. What is the difference between the Neo T5 and the Neo U22-XJ
Which one should I buy? and why? do they have a working Netflix app, with HD? Do they play YouTube 4K natively? What are the downsides to each machine? What are the differences?

Thanks

A direct replacement for the U9-H would be the U22-XJ with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 32GB eMMC running Android OS.

The T5 has 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB eMMC running the more restricted Android TV OS.

sorry but I don't know what the difference is between android and android tv is, besides the physical size and a few small differences in specs these devices don't look that dissimilar to me the average punter like me.

Some research would help you understand and make a better choice for your needs.

Android TV is designed for TV's, easier navigation with a dpad remote but more restrictive on the apps available through Android TV Play Store:

Android is designed for phones and is unrestricted like your U9.

And then there is CoreElec, which is a minimalist Linux OS optimized for Kodi.

I now have CoreElec internally installed on my U22-XJ, which means no more android. I find far fewer playback issues with CoreElec than with android. The downside is no apps, should you need any.

how do you do this? do you have a link to how to install it? I can only find howto's to do this via sd card
Would you really want to do that?
You will no longer be able to run Android apps!

Of course, if you have a newer device to replace your U9-H then you could install CoreElec internally on the U9-H and use the new device for Android.

Edit: I just saw you decided on the T5...
