Neo U1 Issues

Hi All,

I am new to Android Box's so please forgive me if I am asking noob questions!

I just got a Neo U1 box and wanted to update the firmware, so there was a new update of around 30mb which all went through fine. After that I checked for further updates and there was another larger update available of around 180mb, but whenever I try to execute this it gives me a connection error. Anyone have a solution for this?

Also, just for my information, how can I do a factory reset? I read online you press the power button on the box for around 6 seconds, but for me that does nothing.

Finally, any other tips for my new box? Any good mods or anything I can do to make it faster / better?

Thank you all in advance!

What firmware is currently installed on the NEO U1?

You can check by going to: 'Settings' > 'Device' > 'About' > 'Build'.

The final NEO U1 firmware is: 013FW.

We're not releasing any further firmware updates for NEO U1, it shall remain on its existing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.

You need to press both the power button and the reset button (located on the underneath of the housing) to reset MINIX NEO U1.

Having checked, I'm on FW003.

Strange. This does nothing also. I got the unit as a refurbished item, so ideally what I want to do is factory reset to start fresh.
However, I have been unable to do so...

you can factory reset from within android settings > advanced settings> Backup and Reset

This worked, thank you! So after it reset, I connected to wifi and tried the update again... still getting the same error.

Any ideas?

I do not have a windows machine, so I would have to do it via the USB stick method, and that requires me to put the box in to recovery mode. I have tried pressing the reset button (under the unit) and power button for 6 seconds (and 10 seconds just incase), but that does nothing (All it does is bring up a prompt where I can either put the unit to sleep, power off, etc).

you dont have to press any reset button under the unit to get into recovery mode on the u1

Simply power off, and then press and hold the power button on the LHS for >6 secs and then release and it should bring up the recovery menu.

In fact Im pretty sure there isnt even a reset hole on the u1 underside...you sure its a U1 ???

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated! Yes, it's definitely a Neo U1. I realised what I was doing wrong. I was doing the reset steps while the box was sleeping (I thought it was off). I properly turned the box off then held the reset and off button for 6 seconds and it went it to recovery mode.

I will now attempt to flash the box as advised. Thank you!

Ok, so I tried flashing the box via the USB stick method, I got these errors:

Then I tried doing a factory reset via the recovery screen, I got the following errors:

Finally, I tired flashing the box via a micro SD, I got the same errors I got via the USB stick method.

Quite frustrating! Any ideas what's going on?
