NEO U1 WiFi issue

All of a sudden my U1 is losing WiFi connection. The picture freezes mid-stream. Settings show I’m still connected to WiFi & I have full green bars top left - however I have to go to my WiFi address / forget network / re-connect again. I’m having to do this several times a day. This one is closest to my router - do t have this problem with my other U1 or my Samsung tablet. Any thoughts?

Could be IP lease, power down your router and U1 by removing the power cord for a few minutes and see if that helps.

Now tonight I’ve had to enable WiFi on the Box settings again as it had switched that off?

I hate to point out the obvious but have you tried simply powering off your router? Sometimes that can clear issues like this & whilst you're at it power off any device connected to the router via Wifi as well. Power the router back on first, & then start to power up your other devices again one by one.

Otherwise, is it now repeatedly turning the WiFi off as well or was that a one off, but the other dropouts are still ongoing several times per day?

If you unscrew & remove the Wifi antenna (paddle) from the U1 does anything immediately change with regards to the connection or connection speeds, or does it essentially remain the same? (Obviously, if nothing changes it may indicate an issue with the antenna itself.)

Did you also check out the previous suggestion above of any IP conflicts or leasing issues from your router?

Admittedly, I'm not anywhere as familiar with the U1 as other MINIX devices, but have you also tried manually setting a static IP on the U1 itself if available? (Or, reserve an IP for the U1's MAC address through your router if it has the capability & you're familiar with the process. Make sure you reserve an IP not assigned to another device & preferably from outside of your usual DHCP pool.)

Any changes or does the wifi continue to drop out after altering or testing any of the above?

Can you also run a test with an ethernet cable? (I realise such troubleshooting is inconvenient & at times awkward, but it's a necessary step to try & diagnose your issue. Is an ethernet connection more stable or also problematic?)

If none of the above helps at all or you're just not happy going through all of the above but you still want to try & resolve this ASAP.... While it's ordinarily something that most users would only consider as an absolute last resort or if otherwise completely stuck, it may even be beneficial to simply try a factory reset of your U1 now rather than later. Yes, you'll lose all of your data & you'll have to reconfigure the U1 again but it may resolve this issue immediately.

Obviously, entirely up to you as to whether tou want to systematically troubleshoot and/or try various workarounds or just get radical up front & see if a reset gets you back to normality:)!!??!

Thanks for taking the time to reply
I think I’ve solved it - had a data point installed & now running on Ethernet ?

Well done ;). If ethernet is practical with the physical cabling it'll always be your best bet for multiple reasons.

Hopefully enjoy a stable connection from here on :).
