NEO U22-XJ: 003FW [20200430] - Bugtracker

I have the exact same result. Although my LG Tv is not supposed to be HDR10+, fact is the native player of the Tv does wonders with the bright colours from this video, the HDR icon comes up and it is really nice. Couldn't get that result with the U22-XJ, it apparently didn't even recognize it as HDR.

But it will work perfectly on the U22 if you try to read it with Kodi on CoreElec, so I guess it has something to do with Android and not the box itself.

The fact that I need to set SDR to HDR on in order to have the file played as static HDR (otherwise it'll look washed out) hints that the box is not even considering it as HDR / HDR10+ by default. The SDR to HDR option seems to attempt a tone mapping when reading the file, which works pretty well as the file is already in 10bits with the full colour spectrum needed for HDR. However as the box believes it is not a native HDR file, all the HDR10+ capability goes away as it's considered SDR rendered in HDR.

Cursor bug to report: Cursor periodically fails to disappear upon use of D-Pad. (Still occurs on 003AFW)

Mouse cursor click – there seems to be something odd going on. It seems the cursor click action is ignored until the cursor is to the left of the action button / menu. For example, on a pop-up dialog with an OK … moving the cursor over the highlighted area, the cursor changes to the handpointer only on the left side. I think that it’s happening everywhere.

Yes, definitely got that as well.

Mind you many years ago I had a Ford Cortini and turning the radio on also switched on the sidelights !

Maybe the FM frequency needle backlight was very powerful and was sipping between the body panels?

Just loaded Version 003a. None of the three issues I reported are fixed.

1. No CPU performance boost apparent. Benchmarls Antutu and Geekbench 4 the same area.

2. Root still disabled on reboot, even though the root switch shows as "on". You have to toggle it off and then on again to restore root.

3. Launcher 3 still drops the top row of widgets. I am using ADW Launcher, so not too concerned with this one.

Not sure what the OTG Host Enable switch is supposed to do. I know I have to turn it off for USB debugging option to work in developer options. Dolbyvision and SDR to HDR are still enabled by default, so had to set those to off to fix picture problems. The only thing that appears to work better is I had a problem with the mouse cursor in Youtube where it would come on when I hit the back key, and the back key would not work untiil I disabled the cursor. Now it appears to function normally. Other than that, I can see no changes to operation in my limited testing.

Hi @fabzilla, the other way around would be the matter to worry. If you have two frequencies and devices capable of connecting to the 5Ghz network that is the frequency they should connect to. The U22-XJ chooses the best frequency automatically. Unlike previous models there is no outside interventions for you to perform about it. Should you have older devices that can't "see" the 5Ghz frequency, than you have no option but to connect them to the 2.4 Ghz frequency. I really can't understand your concern about this. Is it not playing well connected to 5Ghz or what is it about? Did you try the device so far, not only about settings, but also in what some entertainment is concerned? It should do pretty good, you should also try that. :)
the u22 chooses the 2.4 Ghz frequency automatically and cannot go more than 1Mbps .... if I choose the 5 Ghz frequency it jumps at my basic speed 28Mbps .... 2.4 frequency goes further .... I try everything. ... settings ... streaming ... and that's why I realized ... because streaming didn't start ....:):):)

No, don't recall any prompting during setup/install of Kodi or hard drive. But as I am able to delete files using the Android app "Files" I assumed there is proper access permission at the android OS level. The only option I can see for Kodi permission is "storage" which is on - no further granularity for read versus read/write versus read/write/delete that I can see??

Did a factory reset and launched Kodi -it did prompt for storage access (probably did on my initial setup as well). Unfortunately, still not able to delete files form Kodi interface. I am going to check further on Kodi forums. Any other suggestions would be appreciated - thanks.

UPDATE: After further investigation on Kodi forums, it appears this has been an issue since Android 6 - obviously not a problem on the U1 due to Android 5. It is a permissions issue where essentially the "file manager" within Kodi does not have write/delete access to attached USB storage. Not sure why, but not a Minix or Android issue, rather a Kodi issue. Live and learn.

Ok... I got it now. You have to do the following:

The U22-XJ doesn't have an option to select which frequency to prioritize and so it should automaticaly choose the strongest one with a valid password. That situation is probably because the router is far from the Minix and the 2.4 spreads wider than the 5Ghz frequency.

Because both networks had the same SSID (name of the netwok) and the same password the machine would choose the strongest signal to hit the antenna even if the 5Ghz could reach higher speeds.

You have to find the way to do this:

Change the network names in the router for each of the wifi frequencies and give a different password to each of them so you can select the frequency you wish to connect at the WiFi list by the new name.

Make sure you only give to the U22-XJ access to the 5Ghz name and password to connect only to that one.

The devices that won't be able to see the 5Ghz network (I got a Windows 7 computer that can't and some older smartphones also) you will connect them to the 2.4Ghz network as before.

It would be great if you could connect by Ethernet, none of the above would be needed.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck, hope you make it!

I really don't think so.

It has been a situation that exists since some Internet Service Providers started distributing the routers with both frequencies attached to the same SSID, and it is left for the devices to opt for the strongest frequency. Since the 2.4 reaches a wider range, it is just obvious what will happen. That is why I have had this situation and solution since a long time ago with the U1s and U9-Hs.

This is nothing new to the U22-XJ, and since you've been around for quite some time, and I believe you even own other Minix boxes, I am very surprised, to say the least that, even knowing the solution, you start a query about it related to this box.

It is starting to sound obvious to me that you are willing but to generate some noise, or worse waste someones time, are you?... :poop:

I am an auto mechanic ... who lives in Italy ... who has always bought Minix ... and who never wants to argue .... Sometimes writing is not like talking ... But if you want me to I stand in a corner in silence ... Being unable to express my thoughts in a peaceful and constructive way ... me .... And another bug has been fixed ..... Without controversy always .... Peace and love

obviously already done what you write me ...

Some italian sense of humour, I guess... No worries, or controversy, obviously! I also have some words crossing my mind in my own language which are difficult to put down here, not very sure if they can translate to peace and love, though...

Can you share your benchmarking results? I shared my own results here:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/minix-u22xj-core-speed.2722/post-21766

What I found, running Antutu 8.3.3:
---------- v002 -- v003
Total -> 92,028 120,473 = +30.9%
CPU --> 31,460 50,753 = +61.3%
GPU --> 15,487 16,014 = +3.4%
MEM -> 23,913 26,881 = +12.4%
UX ----> 21,168 26,825 = +26.7%

UX is User Experience, so the difference should (and is) noticeable.

yes exactly ....a minefield !

My earlier comment re:mousewheel support in Nova. I noted that the mousewheel did not scroll pages in Nova. Later it seemed to work ... and now it doesn't. The latest version of Nova has the mousewheel problem - I inadvertently forgot that I'd tried an old version of Nova ... 3.3 I think and it was that version that worked.

I was just preparing to do a manual install of v003 (and associated wipe) but decided to check FOTA first. Found update V003A - downloaded and it installed properly.

Thanks Minix team!!!!
When was that released please?
There is no mention of it on this site from Minix.
