NEO U22-XJ: 006FW (20210107) - Bugtracker [OTA Now Available]

Has v006 been removed from OTA update? Tried to update from v004 but OTA does not detect, says firmware is up to date. Anyone else having similar issue updating?

I'm sure a lot of hard work went into the new update, but for me nothing has changed except that movies with AC3 audio no longer play. I think we have lost site of what people want with there Minix U22. Not everyone has there unit tackled up to a home cinema setup. For me and many others I am sure there setup is basic, just a HDMI cable direct o the TV to watch downloaded movies and stream live TV and maybe browse and check emails. But the most basic function has been overlooked, the ability to use a wireless keyboard. I know its geared up for use with the Neo A3 remotes, which I have but actually hate to use and is sitting in a draw doing nothing. Should there not be a switch to select whether your using a remote or a keyboard. To me the keyboard is the most fundamental add on and as such should be able to function properly. I can't tell you how disappointed I was after such a long wait to find it had been completely overlooked. I am sure I am not the only one that has been waiting for this. Please remember not all Minix users are looking for a high end setup. So for now I'm back again to my Minix U1. Very disappointing indeed.

my wireless mouse and keyboard seem to work fine with the biox

Yes Gman I am having the same problem, my ota updater is not detecting the new v006 update either, says I already have the latest update I am on v005 plus my usb 2.2.0 burning tool is not detecting my box when I try to manually update it, and yes i am doing it correctly as I have done it manually with a previous update and also with many manual updates on previous boxes.

@Gman90 @esweeps have you always updated via OTA or have you previously flashed any firmware? Reason I ask is it is known that some firmwares do not recognise the OTA if flashed manually.

updated both methods,3 different units: 8h plus,u9h and u22. exception is u22; stuck at version 4 manual or ota.

thanx from sweeps of CCC

Tried to use OTA to update my U22 from V005 to V006, but OTA app does not see the new version, says my U22 is up to date.
Is the firmware update no longer available via OTA?

I my U22 i have 2 app FOTA Update and OAT Update ! The Firmware update for V006 was in the FOTA Update disponible !

Check it to find the Update

Hi Marty thanks for getting back. Yes always updated via OTA to current v004, I had the option to update to v005 when it launched but didn't do it at the time, my box was stable so was happy to leave at v004. I have never flashed, only thing I've done out of the ordinary was a factory reset a few weeks after I bought the box, was having some hdmi issues but firmware version remained the same. Not sure why OTA does not offer the update, any way to uninstall and reinstall the OTA app? Or any other ideas, happy to trial any suggestions

Yes there are two update apps, all OTA updates go through FOTA Update, it displays the current version, v004 and at the bottom of the screen a check for updates button, click that and after a few seconds a new dialog box opens stating the firmware is up to date

The FOTA update app keeps telling me that my firmware is up to date (my U22 is at V005), it does not "see" the new version V006.
Apparently, some U22 users get the update and others don't, the reason for this is unclear to me.

Thanks for posting, the more people that post will help identify the problem. As Marty asked before have you previously flashed any firmware manually?

The issue definitely appears to affect multiple devices with different firmware versions currently installed. Possible issue on Minix side??

In answer to your question, No - I have never flashed firmware manually, I bought the U22 in July 2020 and used Fota once to update it to V005.

Can I suggest you all drop an email to customer support, once they are aware there is an issue with FOTA for many of you they'll jump on it, I think it'll be resolved a lot quicker than posting here on the forum:

006FW OTA has been stopped because we're currently preparing to release 006A FW.
You will be able to update from 005FW to 006A FW within the next 48 hours.

Hope A stands for audio fix not another alpha version of FW. It takes way to long to get it work.

Great, I have literally just finished setting up from a fresh flash of 006FW

Well...Today, I have had several notification sounds on the minix.
I have to say my U22 was chiming like a slot machine in Vegas, was driving me nuts!! Just completed a fresh flash of 006FW, installed all my usuals and it's like being in a library it's so quiet, how odd
