Hello everyone !
I was able to manually update the Minix U22 unit, though from 3 attempts.
The IMG file was on disk (root) C:, maybe this information helps someone who failed to update their unit.
Special thanks to @Minix-John, keep up the good work. @ I am very pleased with this update, the unit is really responsive, very fluid, the developers have done a great job for now.

Followed the instructions but my acer i5 will not find the box. tried to add a device but can't find the box?
this oftern happens the first time or so you attempt to connect.
In these circumstances i simply leave the minix connected via usb and just remove the power lead, wait for 15 secs and plug the power lead back in and try again.
You must ensure that when pressing the reset button in using something like a paper clip that you feel and hear the depression and hold that firm whiilst you press and hold the power button and wait for the connection, which should occur after 5 secs or so.

also make sure you follow the guide instruction

plus
make sure the "world cup" driver installed when you installed the Burning Tool, if not uninstall and reinstall, ( if your not sure then uninstall and reinstall anyway and you should get a prompt to install the world cup drivers )
remove any other usb devices and the hdmi cable before trying
make sure that the power is off on the minix ( by removing the power plug, wait 30 secs, plug in the usb cable to minix and pc, and then plug back in the power cable ) and then press and hold the reset and power button for a few seconds or so ( 6-10ish) until you get the connection.
try different combinations of usb cables and USB2.0 ports...it can be problematic to get a connection
and make sure you have no "security" software that may be blocking the connection
and of course make sure you are using the right firmware image for your device

Done. Thanks.

Not sure if it made any difference, I also switched the USB port from 2.0 to 3.0.

I changed to another cable to a Huawei phone cable and used usb3 and so far it's connected now and burning the update to the box. I think the cable that comes with the box is not so good. yes try different cables!
