no problems with coreelec and libreelec
but with android fimewire from minix:
no true hd en dts hd passthrough available on kodi
dolby digital and dts has audio drops on my setup
all audio formats only works when i set kodi to :
5.1 speakers and audio configuration to fixed
then the avr receive all audio formats like PCM 5.1 signal
i think it's not a big difference on audio and surround quality
but ist a little disappointing that a media box not can handle passthrough
and with a not official os (coreelec) its works without problems)
It's really odd that you're experiencing these issues as you are. I'm using Minixs' stock Marshmallow (FW008) on my U9-H & my Sony AVR handles audio passthrough from Kodi absolutely
perfectly. It is now truly decoding Atmos & DTS:X after I added my height speakers although I had to ensure certain settings in my AVR were correct as well. There is the possibility that the U9-H & Kodi are working as intended & it's actually our specific AVR's that could be playing a large part with this issue!!??!!??!! (Unfortunately, AVR's aren't exactly cheap so it's not like you can grab a spare & see if it all works with another make/model lol
.)
However, my AVR essentially isn't even being recognised by Windows on my Neo N42C-4 at the moment.
(Does Windows see your AVR correctly for example?). Kodi
won't passthrough Atmos on that device & it's defaulting down to TrueHD 7.1 is now correctly passing through Atmos! (Windows sees my TV as the audio device instead of the AVR & oddly ignores the AVR even being there altogether.). It's a real head scratcher but the AVR itself is definitely a factor!!! (Sorry to go off topic, but it seems to be relevant.)
In Kodi on the U9-H (obviously) I enable passthrough for ALL available audio streams; otherwise:-
Output config - best match
Keep audio device alive - 2 minutes
Send low volume noise - enabled
Stereo upmix - disabled
Maintain original volume on downmix - disabled.
I've arbitrarily set the number of channels to 7.1 but it isn't used as all audio is being passed through normally & my set up is actually 5.1.2.
I suppose one way you could test it is if you have friend/family that has a different AVR to you?? Hook your U9-H up to their AVR/TV & see if the audio starts to correctly passthrough or behaves differently.
What settings are you using in the Minix audio settings as well?
Hi,
I have to power down my Minix Neo U9-H (remove power plug) with FW008 at least twice per day, because it becomes slow as time passed or when Kodi crash (Krypton 17.6)
Thanks
Regis
My U9-H also went through a phase of requiring a restart every day a several months ago after updating to FW008. I couldn't trace the problem to a specific app I installed. (Same problems as you, something was using resources & then it wouldn't clear memory cache afterwards & a hard reset was required.) With the exception of the last 3 weeks where I've been experiencing issues with the Google App/Assistant & my a3 remote, like
@pusb87 I also only need to restart my U9-H every few weeks. FW008 also fixed some stability issues for me as well.
As
@pusb87 already advised,
can you remember this issue starting after a specific app was installed that's constantly doing something in the background??
You can check on what apps are running simply by going into
Settings -->
Apps, & look through the
running apps. If you feel comfortable doing it, you can also use the built in
Developer Options to easily check on
Running Services &
Inactive Apps. (It would be a start rather than installing even more apps to monitor your apps lol
.) Having said that, if it's of any use to you as well, at times I find
TinyCore (£1.39) a very useful app to tell me if something is suddenly using a lot of system resources on the U9-H &/or if the system/apps aren't idling as intended. You can configure small visual monitors for your CPU & RAM usage that sit in your status bar or other areas of your screen if you wish, (you can enable/disable them at anytime & TinyCore itself uses very little resources.) It might give you some extra clues to tracing your problem before resorting to a full system wipe if it is required.
hope you track the problem down
!!
