Your media player ( eg Kodi) needs to have the option of passthrough where the player does not decode the audio stream, but will send the original audio stream to the AV Receiver to be decoded by the Receiver.

To use this option, you must have passthrough capable hardware ( such as the u9-H, u22-xj ) and an AV Receiver capable of decoding dolby atmos/dts-x .

Why not just use Kodi...its an extremely good media player .

So, the matter is that mx player does not have the option of passthrough like kodi.
Is there another player that do this? Its not bad if we have an alternative

I dont know about MX Player, never found a need for it for any True HD audio etc.
If you have a library of media files on an external HDD Kodi is the way to go.(IMHO) (y):)

Kodi is undoubtedly the better option as already stated above but you could also give VLC a try.
