I've been searching around for a viable rooting TWRP for the community edition firmware for U9-H but I've been unsuccessful. Most required kernel change and internal flashing of the current installation, which was not an option for me. Others just didn't work or were a bit sketchy. I did not want to reflash my U9 nor did I want to lose everything I've done on it. I finally decided to create my own TWRP recovery to root my U9-H from sdcard. Through trial and error, I finally succeeded. I was able to root my U9-H by flashing from my sdcard using both TWRP and Magisk .
I know many people have moved on from U9, so if there is still an interest in rooting your U9-H please let me know and I will post the files with standard instructions in this thread.
Cheers,
