Neo U9-H, subtitles no longer download

Hi all, I'm hoping you can help.
So I use kodi to watch my films and tv shows which are stored on my external drive. In the past I would download subtitles using the podnapsi or open subtitles add ons built into kodi. The default location would be to download next to the video I'm watching, which is also the default kodi settings. However all of a sudden when I click on the subtitle I want to download when watching a video it now says 'Error Subtitle Failed Download', I have not changed any settings so don't understand what caused this. There is still plenty of storage on my external drive roughly 400GB. I also did a test on VLC and when attempting to download subtitles for videos the subtitle wouldn't download either. Really not sure what the problem is as it was working last night on kodi and now today it's just stopped working. Any help is appreciated, cheers.

If a subtitle need login and password the credentials need to be correct.

You can test some subtitles with a browser (using a web browser and login there).

Keep your kodi up to date and add ons too. (Latest kodi 18.7 stable version available).

Thanks for you response I was able to search for the subtitles and the subtitles I wanted came up. I've also got the most up to date version of kodi and even reinstalled it, however still didn't work. Any other ideas? Also as a side note is there any specific settings that should be enabled/disabled to optimizes kodi for a minix neo U9-H

Could just be an intermittent issue with the subtitle provider?

specificaly what didnt work..did it download them ok but not display them ?
I encountered an error when attempting to download. However since I have factory reset my device and now it's working. Bit of a pain, would be great if I know a solution so dont have to do this in the future.

I have the same problems from time to time and it is nearly always due to login/credentials.

I have stopped using Open Subtitles for that reason as it is rather murkey how to get credentials that keep functioning.
