NEO U9-H Video Playback issues

Hi all,
I use my U9-H mainly for Kodi V18 and use the standard Android setups on the box and Kodi config.
Recently I have noticed videos I play regardless of format stop at least once partway through.
I clocked a movie last night and it stopped at around 20mins in and then again around 45mins but the time seems to vary.
The symptom is that the screen goes black and of course, video and audio stops. The box doesn't reboot or crash. It almost seems like the Wifi disconnects temporarily?
I can use the buttons on the remote to go back to the U9-H setup screen and then use backward key which goes back to the Kodi app or the black screen. When I (eventually) get back into Kodi it retains the partway through counter so I can then continue from where it left off.

I play almost everything off an external USB drive on my PC using Samba using WiFi connections to my router/modem.
I have checked my sleep timers on the PC HDD settings and extended drive C for 20mins to 60mins but it made no difference. If I leave the U9-H running on the "desktop" it goes into screensaver but remains active indefinitely.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on other settings that may be affecting this on either Kodi or the PC?

Are you able to test your U9-H under the same conditions with an ethernet cable instead of WiFi? (It might quickly give you more specific possibilities to investigate.)

Does Kodi still experience the same issue over ethernet?

What you can do for now is:
-restart minix and router

If you can use static ip on both devices (minix and PC) .
As @ArcticWolf said test with rj45.

Give us more detalis:
- what firmware you have on u9h?
- Is your wifi signal good?

Use kodi 18 stable version - kodi 18.4 .
Do not use kodi 18 or kodi 19 nightlies versions.

Question: Why not just plug your external USB drive into your U9H directly? That's how I have always done it.
I am quite willing to change but have 4 external USB drives and always had them all it connected to my PC where I do downloading, housekeeping and regular scheduled backups etc of the whole PC.

Thanks to all those that have replied replied to my question. I thought I would get email notifications but have had none? Better check my settings!

My PC and U9-H are in another room and I don't have ethernet cables long enough to reach the Modem/router. I'd be worried the kids would be tripping all over them even if I did jut for testing.

Hi all,
I am still having some issues with video playback but appear to have narrowed it down after installing Glasswire (free version) to monitor network traffic.
Today I had 2 Kodi playback hangs. Looking at the activity both times there seems to be a lot of download activity happening with the online gaming platform called Steam which I have on my PC. It autostarts on boot and runs in the background.
In any case, when the Kodi playback hangs occurred today I noticed a spike in Steams download activity both times. I have shutdown Steam for the moment and have a suspicion that the hangs will stop as I regularly shut Steam down anyway and have noticed a drop in the Kodi hangs lately?
Does anyone else have any knowledge of this or what it may be in Steam (or in Kodi) that may be contributing to this?
Persistence pays...:geek:

I had issues with video playback both with Kodi and with MXPlayer. Sometimes the playback would freeze or hang.
In the old forum I found a thread were someone suggested to uninstall the app "ES File Explorer".
I had that app installed. After uninstalled never had the problem again. Just my 2 cents... Hope it helps
