NEO X8-H Plus Lollipop OS FW: [20170612]

@Snipesyo xh plus is a different device.
You must wait for a custom firmware (if anyone does a newer firmware, if the hardware itself is good enough to allow a newer firmware.... etc..) or stay with official firmware.
You may Brick the device if you do not do a proper flash with the proper ROM.

@Pingouin on Neo X8-H Plus NewPipe would works correctly just as in Neo U1.As i understood you didn't ask for firmware because you already did upgrading Neo X8-H Plus to lollipop.If it doesn't work try SmartYoutube also without ads.

Oops, sorry guys, I didn't realise Snipesyo has a X8 not H as this is a H topic :p
As Villa said, this firmware is only for X8-H Plus.
But if you have problems with Youtube on any device, it's worth trying Newpipe, you can get it from F-droid.

I gave up on NewPipe because I always got "Could not import subscriptions" error!

Strange. I did get NewPipe stop working on few occasions, presumably because Google changed the protocol or something, but each time, uninstalling and installing the latest version always fixed the problem for me.

Does this firmware support Adjust refresh rate from Kodi?
Does it adjust refresh rate even if hardware acceleration is turned on?

Currently I love my old box just because of this one feature that lets me play all my videos perfectly smooth...

Thanks!

Hello,
I have downloaded the files of the first post.
The two files have different sizes

X8H_PLUS_LOLLIPOP_RC2.img 937.989.188 bytes
X8-H_Plus-Android_5.1-20170612-Burning_Tool.img 937.976.904 bytes

Which one should I use?

Download link 1 from minix.
I think you have the image file and also usb burning tool.

If you have problems downloading from server 1 you have the other link - mega

Check also the youtube video.

either....difference is probably due to naming ?

I said that badly
I extracted the img files from the two zip and do not have the same size
why? only for naming?
it should be the same since it is the same firmware

That is not important.
The name of the file is irrelevant, if you notice the firmware is the same, lollipop.
Can be various factors because have different sizes -compressed method, more files, etc.

What is important is firmware , lollipop and if it works good for you.
Install and let us know.

I would suggest X8H_PLUS_LOLLIPOP_RC2.rar, on comparison it would seem the kernel has the fix for the external hard drives which were an issue in RC1:

Left is X8H_PLUS_LOLLIPOP_RC2.rar, right is X8-H_Plus-Android_5.1-20170612-Burning_ToolLevel2init.amlogic.rc.jpg

Hi.
As @Marty said install LOLLIPOP Official X8H_PLUS_RC2.rar
I have installed in mine that version.
I saw in a file that i have from the old forum features of lollipop firmware.

Features that we have integrated to this firmware:

1.) Auto refresh rate switching of amcodec (not mediacodec), for both local and online media;
2.) New SAMBA server function, based on the latest SMB release;
3.) Faked Wi-Fi feature;
4.) Latest MINIX launcher;
5.) NEO A3 remote support;
6.) Latest AirPin (PRO) app.;

Installed lollipop!

Via USB cable was not possible (I tried 3 different cables, including 1 original minix, on windows 10).

Installed via sd card.

I have yet to test all the features.

The trick to install via usb burning tool is the steps...
Maybe you missed something....
Glad you made it :)

Maybe I have a bug...
Minix is connected via an optical cable to a dolby 5.1 system:
in KODI, if I watch video with audio 2.0 it's all ok, but if I watch video with 5.1 sound the minix completely freeze.

I have to do other tests
